United Nations Calls for Torture Prosecutions

The release of the Senate report on the graphic torture of terrorism suspects by the Bush-era Central Intelligence Agency led to calls at the United Nations and elsewhere on Tuesday for criminal prosecutions and caused an international explosion on social media, including online jihadist exhortations for retaliation.

...In Geneva, the United Nations Human Rights Council’s special investigator on counterterrorism and human rights, Ben Emmerson, said he welcomed the report and commended the Obama administration for having resisted political pressures to suppress it.

...“The individuals responsible for the criminal conspiracy revealed in today’s report must be brought to justice, and must face criminal penalties commensurate with the gravity of their crimes,” Mr. Emmerson said in a statement posted on the website of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

“The fact that the policies revealed in this report were authorized at a high level within the U.S. government provides no excuse whatsoever,” he said. “Indeed, it reinforces the need for criminal accountability.”

you might have noticed how the republicans and their media have gone in to overdrive trying to deny facts, bringing out Cheney only further shows their mentality then and now it hasn't changed still arrogant and anal.  he said he'd do it all over again given the opportunity,  the war criminal and just plain criminals no difference they always return to the scene of their crime.

 i remember an interview with Cheyney when told Americans did not think Iraq war was worth fighting his response "so" with a crap eating grin, his intent was to get richer on Iraqi oil at the expense of our children and wives and husbands and mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers and cousins and grand parents  keep in mind the SOB aid he'd do it again.

i'm all in with the UN, i understand Pres. not doing it he had the peoples work to do tying up with that would have made what he was able to do in the face of promised republican blocking virtually impossible then the ungrateful 's would really have something to be mad at Pres. for, because they surely don't now.  i repeat American's do not deserve Pres. Obama.
