Ammon Bundy has a message for the remaining armed militants at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge:

"I'm asking the federal government to allow the people at the refuge to go home without being prosecuted," Bundy said through his attorney Mike Arnold, who stood outside court to read Bundy's statement. "To those remaining at the refuge, I love you. Let us take this fight from here. Please stand down. Please stand down. Go home and hug your families. This fight is ours for now in the courts. Please go home."

The remaining men and women appeared in a live stream on YouTube earlier today and seemed resolute for this to end in a gun battle. Let’s hope they get the message conveyed through Bundy’s attorney and lay down their guns.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said Monday that he would rather "set himself on fire" than go on the debate stage because of Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly's bias.

Scarborough bashed Kelly, framing her as a biased journalist the morning after Donald Trump announced he'd skip Thursday's GOP presidential debate out of protest to Kelly's inclusion as a moderator. 

Scarborough's "Morning Joe" program played a series of Fox News clips showing Kelly criticizing Trump's decision to skip the debate hosted by Fox.

"That is just good, unbiased journalism. And if I were a candidate, I certainly would want that person asking me questions in a fair and balanced way," Scarborough deadpanned with sarcasm. 

"As I've said before, I would rather set myself onfire in front of the Fox News studio than go on the debate stage with that." 

MSNBC and Fox are huge rivals, along with CNN, for cable news viewers. Fox is the leader, averaging 349,000 viewers last year in the 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen. CNN averages 243,000, while MSNBC trails with 143,000.

In one of the clips shown by the television network, Kelly lampooned MSNBC and CNN for allowing Trump to call into the network regularly for 30-minute interviews.

By now, we’re all fairly certain that we’ve seen enough evidence to in the very least convict the major players of the Dubya administration of lying to the American people about Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. There were no weapons of mass destruction; of that we are sure.

We’re sure, the people who went looking are sure, even the CIA is sure. The only people who aren’t sure are the top ranking members of the Bush administration; George Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. While they seem to admit that they were wrong about WMDs in Iraq, they refuse to admit they made a mistake invading Iraq over the issue because it was the “best information” they had at the time.

A newly declassified document is shedding some light on those claims. In a memo written by Donald Rumsfeld himself to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the former Secretary of Defense wrote, “Please take a look at this material as to what we don’t know about WMD. It is big.”

The memo wasn’t about what we knew about the alleged Iraqi weapons programs, but rather what we didn’t know. As it turns out, we didn’t know diddly squat. The report stated:

“We’ve struggled to estimate the unknowns. … We range from 0% to about 75% knowledge on various aspects of their program.”

Basically, just before the Bush administration made their case for war, they knew very little about what was actually going on. That translated to the doom and gloom reporting to the American people by their leaders that a maniac had most definitely acquired nuclear, chemical and/or biological weapons that could be used against the US or its interests.

While an article in Politico points out that Rumsfeld was under no legal obligation to disclose the classified memo or its contents, it is only fair to note that he and his bosses opted instead to send Colin Powell to the UN for the infamous speech full of lies that gained the support of the United Kingdom and a coalition of nations.

The memo proves that we were going to war no matter what. They weren’t fed bad information. They didn’t push America off that cliff and into another ground war because they thought they knew what Iraq was hiding. They jumped off because they knew exactly what they didn’t know, and even that pointed to a country far less dangerous than the one they sold the American people.

If there’s one thing about Donald Trump that pretty much everyone knows by now, it’s that he’s never wrong. Well, at least according to Donald Trump. He’ll never admit a mistake, he’ll double down on controversial statements, and heaven forbid he’s asked a question he doesn’t want to answer, or even worse, challenged on an answer on live television. The latter is exactly what Megyn Kelly did in the first GOP debate, and oh boy, has that thrown Trump into full tantrum mode, especially finding out she’ll be moderating the next GOP debate to be held on Fox News. He literally told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer:

“I mean, I don’t like her. She doesn’t treat me fairly.”

So, in turn, Trump is threatening to boycott the next debate because he thinks Kelly is a meanie.

All of this led Fox News to issue a reply that was absolutely accurate. Probably one of the few times they’ve said something that is completely true. A network spokesperson said:

“Sooner or later Donald Trump, even if he’s president, is going to have to learn that he doesn’t get to pick the journalists — we’re very surprised he’s willing to show that much fear about being questioned by Megyn Kelly.”

They basically called Trump out for being terrified of Megyn Kelly. If he’s terrified during a debate because he’s asked questions he doesn’t completely fancy, how is he going to deal with leaders around the globe who would inevitably call him out all the time for the decisions he would make as Commander-in-Chief?

Fox also told Mediaite is a statement that was pure gold:

“We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.”

Fox News had the perfect response to Trump’s hissy fit over Megyn Kelly moderating the next debate. If you desire to be leader of the free world, you’re going to have to realize people aren’t going to kowtow to your every whim, and bullying really isn’t an option with diplomatic relations. Trump needs to grow the f*ck up.

Now, 26 years after Michael Schiavo lived what would be anyone’s worst nightmare, Jeb Bush’s Right to Rise Super PAC is releasing a new campaign ad that spotlight’s the tragedy of Terry Schiavo by using her image as they talk about “protecting life.”

Michael  is not happy. In an interview with Politico, Schiavo said that he found the ad “disgusting,” adding that it “sounds like a last-ditch effort to get the right-wing constituents.” How right he is. Bush, long considered the favorite to win the GOP nomination, has faltered in the polls, especially with the conservative base who favor lunatic Ted Cruz and sociopath Donald Trump. Jeb Bush’s political aspirations, however, don’t make using a family’s tragedy OK.

Schiavo added:

“Using his disgraceful intervention in our family’s private trauma to advance his political career shows that he has learned nothing. He’s proud of the fact that he used the machinery of government to keep a person alive through extraordinary artificial means — contrary to the orders of the court that were based on the court’s determination, made over six years of litigation, that doing so would be against her wishes.

“What the campaign video shows is that if he ever got his hands on the power of government again, he would do the same thing again, maybe next time to your family.”

Extremely wise words from a man who has seen first hand what a Jeb Bush can do if given any kind of power.

Ammon Bundy and several members of his militant circle that took over the Malheur Wildlife Refuge have been arrested. Militant LaVoy Finicum, more recently known as “Blue Tarp Man” has been confirmed killed in a shootout with law enforcement. Ryan Bundy was also reportedly inured in the arrest of Ammon Bundy.

Bundy supporter Pete Santilli, who hosts a YouTube broadcast and has been heavily involved in the standoff, has also been arrested:

Each person arrested faces a federal felony charge of conspiracy to impede US officers from “discharging their official duties through the use of force, intimidation, or threats, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 372.”

Later, right-wing online talk show host Pete Santilli, who has been embedded with the militia from the beginning of the occupation, was also arrested on the same charges. Santilli, 50, lives in Cincinnati.

His YouTube co-host, Deb, continued the live stream. After several frantic calls, she commented to an unknown person on the phone that Blaine Cooper was still at the refuge and she had spoken with him by phone and that Cooper was “going to fight.” At last report, his wife, Melissa Cooper was at the refuge, and possibly his two daughters.

On the campaign trail in New Hampshire this week, with the nation’s first primary contests mere days away, Republican frontrunner Donald Trump aligned himself with Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Pelosi on a key policy question.

Trump declared support Monday night for allowing the federal Medicare program to negotiate drug prices with pharmaceutical companies, claiming the government could “save $300 billion” a year if allowed to do so. (Experts have estimated the savings to be closer to $16 billion a year). The hotel mogul pointed to the lobbying power of those companies as the reason this doesn’t happen already.

Thus, the man who has railed against Obamacare as a “disaster” and promised to replace it with a “beautiful” private system endorsed a policy that would give the government more control over the health care market. It’s a change Democrats have demanded for more than a decade, ever since the government was barred from conducting such negotiations by a 2003 law signed by President George W. Bush. 

President Obama has called for restoring this power in his past few national budget proposals, but the Republican-controlled Congress has blocked its implementation. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) introduced a bill in September to empower the government to negotiate with drug companies. The bill would also allow people to legally import cheaper drugs from Canada, and would force pharmaceutical companies to report their research and development costs.

 Though some Republicans, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Ben Carson, have criticized the drug companies for their price hikes, they have offered few concrete policy solutions. Sen. Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush have called for loosening the rules at the Food and Drug Administration so the government approves new drugs more quickly, claiming the increased competition would lower prices.

While Trump’s comments on Medicare are out of line with his party, they are well within line with his own record. Trump has previously blasted his Republican competitors for their proposals to cut or privatize Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, calling such a move “not fair to the people that have been paying in for years.” 

He has also joined Sanders in endorsing the idea of universal healthcare, saying such a policy has worked well for Canada, Scotland, and other nations. Though he has yet to lay out a concrete health care policy, he has vowed: “I can work a deal with hospitals that will be great for everybody.”

Meanwhile, leaving the government at the mercy of drug companies who can name their own prices has become a major financial burden on the government, and will continue to balloon as the nation’s largest generation retires.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh speculated on Tuesday that Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was going easy on Hillary Clinton because she might have him murdered and make it look like a suicide.

“You know, not only was Hillary anti-gay marriage, she was anti-gay marriage as recently as 2008 during that campaign, folks,” Limbaugh recalled. “She was also pro-Iraq War. She voted for the Iraq War.”

The right-wing talker noted that Sanders had failed to effectively use those issues in his campaign.

“Poor crazy Bernie has tried to make that point,” Limbaugh opined. “Crazy Bernie just does not make it forcefully enough.”

The fact that we officially commemorate the Holocaust on January 27, the date of the liberation of Auschwitz, means that remembrance of Nazi crimes focuses on the systematic mass murder of Europe’s Jews.

The other victims of Nazi racism, including Europe’s Sinti and Roma are now routinely named in commemoration, but not all survivors have had equal opportunities to have their story heard. One group of victims who have yet to be publicly memorialised is black Germans.

All those voices need to be heard, not only for the sake of the survivors, but because we need to see how varied the expressions of Nazi racism were if we are to understand the lessons of the Holocaust for today.

When Hitler came to power in 1933, there were understood to have been some thousands of black people living in Germany – they were never counted and estimates vary widely. At the heart of an emerging black community was a group of men from Germany’s own African colonies (which were lost under the peace treaty that ended World War I) and their German wives.

They were networked across Germany and abroad by ties of family and association and some were active in communist and anti-racist organisations. Among the first acts of the Nazi regime was the suppression of black political activism. There were also 600 to 800 children fathered by French colonial soldiers – many, though not all, African – when the French army occupied the Rhineland as part of the peace settlement after 1919 which returned to Germany when it annexed the Rhineland in 1936.

Denial of rights and work

The 1935 Nuremberg Laws stripped Jews of their German citizenship and prohibited them from marrying or having sexual relations with “people of German blood”.

A subsequent ruling confirmed that black people (like “gypsies”) were to be regarded as being “of alien blood” and subject to the Nuremberg principles. Very few people of African descent had German citizenship, even if they were born in Germany, but this became irreversible when they were given passports that designated them as “stateless negroes”.

In 1941, black children were officially excluded from public schools, but most of them had suffered racial abuse in their classrooms much earlier. Some were forced out of school and none were permitted to go on to university or professional training. Published interviews and memoirs by both men and women, unpublished testimony and post-war compensation claims testify to these and other shared experiences.

Employment prospects which were already poor before 1933 got worse afterwards. Unable to find regular work, some were drafted for forced labour as “foreign workers” during World War II. Films and stage shows making propaganda for the return of Germany’s African colonies became one of the few sources of income, especially after black people were banned from other kinds of public performance in 1939.

Florida state House subcommittee heard testimony on Monday that the “white culture” would be destroyed if white women were “outside the home not having babies” while other ethnicities had a higher birthrate.

During a House Criminal Justice Subcommittee meeting on Monday, lawmakers discussed HB 865, a bill that would ban all abortions except in cases where the health of the mother was at risk.

Republican Rep. Charles Van Zant, who sponsored the bill, argued that life began at conception, and that even zygotes were “citizens of Florida.”

While testifying about the bill, an anti-abortion activist named Paul injected race into the discussion.

“We see the destruction we’re bringing upon ourself as a nation,” Paul opined. “The Muslims, they don’t kill the babies.”

Paul noted that “white people” did not “live on an Island,” and that “the Mexicans” would propagate faster because they did not practice abortions.

“Their race is through the breeding of having families, children,” he explained. “And what happens is once you see the condition we’re in, we’re destroying ourselves and destroying our families, we’ve accepted something in this country that the Creator — that we’re going to pay for.”

“You don’t see us as a culture, as a white culture, pushing this agenda of abortion, women outside the home not having babies, everybody getting more and more and more?” Paul asked the lawmakers. “We’re a sick nation and if we don’t repent then the people leading our government, you are legislating morality by the laws you pass.”

“You are legislating religion and morality by the laws that we pass as a people, and it’s destroying us as a nation.”

In conclusion, Paul thanked the lawmakers and added: “It’s either repent or perish America. That’s the way it is.”

The subcommittee passed the bill by a vote of 8-3. If the bill becomes law, anyone performing abortions or operating an abortion clinic could be punished with up to 30 years in prison.

When asked by KING 5 why she was supporting Trump, New Yorker Karen Bruno said it’s because she’s angry. But further, she said she was so angry at the way things are going in this country, that it doesn’t matter what Trump says — he still has her support.

“I think the more he riles up the establishment, the better I like it. So, He really can’t say anything wrong. Because every time he makes them upset, the more I like it, because I’m so angry,” she told KING 5 outside Trump Tower in New York. “I think the establishment is in cahoots to bring this country down…I don’t know what they’re doing…they’re not making it better.”

Other Trump supporters seem to share her sentiment and Trump knows it. On Saturday, he bragged that he could kill someone in cold blood and still maintain his lead.

“They say I have the most loyal people,” Trump said, “Where I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters, okay? It’s like incredible.”

“I think the Democrats have underestimated the anger of the conservatives of this country, really underestimated the anger,” Bruno said.

Indeed, some of Trump’s comments have earned him condemnation by his own party. Last week, Trump retweeted a Hitler-loving white supremacist to take a dig at Jeb Bush.

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) followed up recent complaints about out-of-state drug dealers impregnating “white girls” by suggesting this week that some drug offenses should be punished with public executions.

At a town hall meeting earlier this month, LePage had complained that “guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty” were bringing drugs into Maine from Connecticut and New York.

“Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue we have to deal with down the road,” he said.

The governor’s office later insisted that the comments had not been about race.

During LePage’s weekly radio appearance on WTOM on Tuesday, the governor was asked about efforts to increase penalties for drug dealers from out of state.

In cases where drug use resulted in death, LePage argued that “the death penalty should be the law” for dealers.

“I think these people — there’s nothing good enough for these people,” he opined. “I think four years is not good enough, we’ve got to go to 20 years, we’ve got to keep them here until they die.”

At that point, the broadcast briefly went silent as LePage’s comment left the radio hosts speechless.

“If you want my honest opinion, we should give them an injection of the stuff they sell,” LePage continued. “I’m just appalled at people getting angry at me for making a comment when they protect these people. And the ACLU, mind you, is the worst organization in the state of Maine protecting these people.”

Although the hosts of the show attempted to conclude the interview, the governor was not done.

“What I think we ought to do is bring the guillotine back,” LePage interrupted. “We could have public executions, and we could even have which hole it falls in.”
