Is it because Iran is just seconds away from building nuclear weapons? Is it because Iran is minutes away from invading Israel? Is it because Iranian terrorists are just about to swarm over Israel’s borders? Of course not. None of that is true, and never has been.
No, the real reason Israel is so “threatened” by Iran is because they’re in the way of Israeli ambition:
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu offered a glimpse into his strategic aspirations Thursday at a Jewish New Year’s reception at Mossad headquarters, which also marked 65 years since the intelligence arm’s founding.
“We cannot solve the basic problems of the Middle East,” he said. “They are revealing themselves in their full force, and today our enemy is a double enemy: it is radical Shi’ite Islam that is led by Iran and its proxies, and the Sunni one, currently led by ISIS (Islamic State).”
“There is one certain rule,” Netanyahu intoned: “No one strikes an alliance with the weak. Our true defense in the years of the state’s existence and the 65 years that the Mossad is marking now, is the strength of the state of Israel. It is this strength that we maintain.”
“In the face of this changing world, Israel must be a power. Not just a regional power, but in some spheres, a world power.”

Like all good warmongers, Israel has been dressing up its dreams of conquest in the guise of “defending itself.” This is where the myth of Iran’s nuclear program came from. Prime Minister Netanyahu has been squealing about how Iran is this close to finishing a bomb for 20 years. He’s been demanding the United States bomb/invade/do all the dirty work for just as long.
But now that the United States has decided that diplomacy and peace treaties are better than war, Israel is looking at fellow dictator Vladimir Putin to help achieve its goals of crushing the competition. Whether this ploy succeeds remains to be seen but Israel has tipped its hand. We should stop pretending that they’re the victim of Iranian “aggression.”
Countries are going to struggle for political, military and economic dominance. They always have and they always will. But if Israel wants to start a war with Iran so it can control the Middle East, there is exactly zero reason for the United States to do it for them.
this too is also the best reason not to elect the fellow war mongering republicans we would be at war day one it they had their way. Netanyahu is not getting what he wants fast enough he collaborated with the republicans against Pres. but now seek Putin's help that is rather disingenuous and shows his true colors red for the blood of war. makes republicans look pretty stupid for their actions and his desertion from them priceless let's face it treachery is no longer undetectable it's just a keystroke away.
