Daphne Richards was a full-time manager at a Colorado Chick-fil-A when she received a breast cancer diagnosis in May. She took leave for a double mastectomy and when she had been cleared to return to work, she was shocked when management told her she was being demoted:
Richards' documents show that not only was she being demoted, she was going from a 40-plus hour work week to a 10-to-15-hour week and her hourly wage was dropping from $14 to $10 per hour.
After the story began gaining attention, management eventually offered to increase her hours, but maintain she was demoted for poor performance and out of concern she wouldn't be able to handle the work load.
Daphne Richards plans to keep fighting:
Richards has filed a discrimination charge with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission and plans to keep fighting.
"I know that this is morally wrong," said Richards. "I believe in my heart that it can't be legal what she's doing to me."
So much for operating the company based on "biblical values."
okay if she was manager when she took leave for such a deadly illness why was she not sighted as doing a poor job why did they wait till she came back to unload the bomb, it stinks and shows why they support right wing politics they don't care, all the women who work for them and those the patronize, stand up for your gender this could be you on your job or those that work there could be next any chain stores should be put on notice right wing policy is dying and if you keep treating women this way so will your businesses.
I loss someone of 18 years relationship to breast cancer I know the angst and resulting difficulties, the store would have gotten priceless press and positive notoriety had they just supported her, but right wing greed and tyranny wins out everytime when it's their back acct. bottom line and human life. despicable them. ever notice those who thump the Bible are the most retched among us? how is she going to pay for cancer treatments, if not for the VA I'd be a lost soul my treatments are in the thousands after 4 months. God Bless her and her family.
