Moving to defuse one of the more controversial cutbacks brought on by the federal government shutdown, the Pentagon announced a plan Wednesday for a private charity, the Fisher House Foundation, to pay death benefits for fallen soldiers.
The Fisher House Foundation provides temporary housing for the families of loved ones undergoing medical treatment at military and Veterans Affairs hospitals.
i thought about this when i first heard about the death benefit being denied because of the republican shutdown, then i had the audacity to wonder since the republicans are the reason why that the right wing and all it's money would try to buy some brownie points, my bad i considered they gave a damn.
there is enough money around to solve all our problems except all our problems don't include loopholes and milking the gov't and denying those in need their favorite pastime.
In a statement, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said his department is “entering into an agreement with the Fisher House Foundation that will allow the federal government to provide the family members of fallen service members with the full set of benefits they have been promised, including a $100,000 death gratuity payment.”
The foundation had said Tuesday that it would provide the benefit to any family members of killed troops who were being denied the money because of the shutdown.
if they thought they would receive the majority of the blame for shutdown wait till it hits the fan that they deny dead military families their death rights.  Beohner should have met his people on the steps of the Capitol and put an end to this right there, but they want their pound of flesh from Pres. above Americans dead or alive.  more power to them
