The Republican party isn’t exactly known for their inclusiveness. Well, at least since the major party shifts of the early 20th century when northern Republicans became Democrats, and Southern Democrats became Republicans.
When one visits any Republican town hall meeting pretty much anywhere in the nation, it can be guaranteed that there will likely be a sea of white faces. Currently, there is only one Republican African-American in the United States Senate, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, and two in the House; Rep. Will Hurd of Texas, and Rep. Mia Love of Utah. So, needless to say, inclusiveness is not a GOP strength.
One of the main reasons there are so few African-American representatives in all of Congress is because when it comes down to who is fighting for equality, voting rights and inclusiveness, all of those tasks have come directly from the Democratic side of the aisle. When people go on election day to vote for who will represent their best interests, surprise, surprise– the African-American community overwhelmingly votes in favor of Democrats.
That doesn’t stop Republicans from trying though. Recently, in North Carolina, the Durham County “Black Republican Committee” set up a table to reach voters. Actor Jim Beaver was sent a photo from one of his friends who was at the event, and he proceeded to post it to Facebook. One slight problem with the photo — there were no African-Americans at the table.
i guess so many centuries of ignoring Black people they hadn't noticed that their flagship effort of deception was strikingly devoid of the subject purpose, just another exercise in republican insincerity and blind eyes, reaching out but no ones home.
