The Vatican released an official statement saying that for one year, the "Holy Year of Mercy," priests worldwide will be able to forgive women who've had abortions:
The pontiff said he will allow priests "discretion to absolve of the sin of abortion those who have procured it and who, with contrite heart, seek forgiveness for it" during the special year, beginning December 8.
"I am well aware of the pressure that has led [women] to this decision," he wrote in the announcement. "I know that it is an existential and moral ordeal."
though not Catholic i have agreed with Pope Frankie the overwhelming majority of the time but this time i'm mixed. i always have been in relation for man speaking for God, leaving decisions to priest whether the confessor is contrite or not aren't some of these priest that have kept quiet about juvenile abuses within the clergy?

as to Pope Frankie being aware of the pressures can one accurately describe a emotionally intimate thing such as this to let's face it a man who does not share the same physiology as what he assumes to understand, i really like and affectionately call him Pope Frankie but i question if any mortal man can understand a woman's  challenges any more than they can a mans just my thoughts
