Scene of Dekalb County shooting
It's difficult to count the number of ways this police call went wrong. Dekalb County police responded to a burglary-in-progress call, entered the wrong house through an unlocked door and all hell broke loose:
Upon entry, the officers encountered a dog. Two officers fired their weapons striking and killing the animal. A male in the home, later determined to be the homeowner, was also shot by the responding officers.
One of the police officers was shot. The G.B.I. says their early investigation indicates the officer was likely shot accidentally by one of the other officers at the scene.
The homeowner was treated for a gunshot wound and released. The officer who was shot is still in the hospital, listed as in "serious but stable condition." Initial reports indicated the homeowner shot the officer, but the Georgia Bureau of Investigation later corrected that information, noting the officer was shot by "friendly fire." The report also notes the home officers entered was similar in description to the home described in the original 911 call. The G.B.I has taken over the investigation.
with all these faux pas by police of late and the decades long killings of Black people to swat squads coming in injuring babies in a crib with a grenade why do White people who a lot of this is being done to find it hard to except our legitimate angst when it comes to police and their interactions especially when far too many end with them not going home or walking away, do more of them need to experience the manic cop encounters before it becomes real to them, be careful what you might wish for or need to have a change of mind happening to you makes it personal and you actually feel the hurt and pain???????????
