"ALL houses of worship are sanctuaries, a place where all should feel safe, a place we can seek refuge when the world is too much to bear." -Faatimah Knight/LaunchGood Project Creator
On July 2, 2015, a LaunchGood project was created by Faatimah Knight and several U.S. Muslim groups to help rebuild the black churches that have been burned/damaged/destroyed during the past month. Several of the church attacks have been proven to be acts of arson/racially driven, while other attacks are still under investigation for possible hate crimes.
Church burnings have been a form of violent intimidation used by racists/white supremacists/the KKK to inflict fear into African American communities throughout America, for over a century. One of most vicious and horrific church attacks took place in 1963 when four young innocent young black girls were killed in a church bombing by KKK members in Birmingham, Alabama.
The recent church attacks took place within days of the South Carolina massacre, in which nine members of Charleston's Emanuel AME Church were mercilessly gunned down by a 21-year-old man believed to be acting out of racial hatred.
Until this fundraiser began resources to rebuild the churches have been minimal. The Muslim community asked for people to unite and help one another, and people around the country responded with $100,470.00 in donations.
Here is a timeline, listed by the LaunchGood project, of eight of the churches damaged/burned/destroyed during a one month period:
June 17 Charleston church shooting. Nine African Americans killed and tenth shot and survived the  mass shooting. (Arrest made)
June 22 College Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee (arson)
June 23 God̢۪s Power Church of Christ in Macon, Georgia (arson)
June 24 Briar Creek Road Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina (arson)
June 26 Glover Grove Baptist Church in Warrenville, South Carolina (arson)
June 26 The Greater Miracle Apostolic Holiness Church in Tallahassee, Florida, also burned to the ground (electrical wiring)
June 24 Fruitland Presbyterian Church in Gibson County, Tennessee (still under investigation)
July 1 Mount Zion AME Church, which the KKK torched  20 years ago, burned to the ground (still under investigation)
we constantly hear about the stalwart beliefs and conviction to those beliefs by the Christian right wing religion but it's flying back in their faces when those they accuse collectively are the terror religion of the world steps up and respects another religion and it's people as the Bible says and Jesus taught and helps them rebuilt what in all likelihood those who are silent have some knowledge of as to who, and those acts being done under the banner they claim is theirs and the only true freedom of religious rights.

not saying all the religious right lit a match but their silence and ignorining begs to question where were they when God's children needed help, definitely not where the Muslim community was so who really are the Godless ones????????
