Antonio Cromartie, a three-time Pro Bowl cornerback now playing for the Arizona Cardinals, sent out the following message and accompanying image today via Twitter on the occasion of Mike Brown's funeral in Ferguson, Missouri:
It's a beautiful gesture, the type which professional athletes often refrain from making, not wanting to get embroiled in political controversies or hot-button issues (for fear of their own brand or that of the team for which they play). Perhaps Cromartie didn't think that such a moving display of empathy would elicit a stream of hatred. Perhaps he did.
Either way, that's exactly what has occurred. Below are three examples (as images, since I prefer not to link to them):
at the risk of sounding corny but sincere this country is going to hell in a hand basket,  the only ones running around declaring this is the greatest country the richest country the strongest country and they are the one's that spew the hate and vitriolic rhetoric that just gins up those like them and continues us on a downward spiral.  the idiots are to greedy to see there is no country without the people they are stomping on.
a great country looks out for all of it's people, richest country does not have starving kids and no health care or jobs, they say the Dems are trying to divide the country when in fact it has never been together they have insured that status quo since the 17th century.  it's a pathetic country who can laugh and cheer at a dead kid regardless to color of their skin, it shows that faction to be not what Americans are suppose to be but unfortunately what at least half is
we will never be great until this America becomes the one they unsuccessfully tried to convince the world we are.  Pres. said "WE ARE THE CHANGE WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR" why are we still fighting against it?
