Healthcare.gov was down for maintenance Monday morning, and is now queueing guests — on the last day to attempt to enroll for health insurance, though users who say they tried to enroll (but were unable to) can apply for a special enrollment period.
As Politico reported this morning, the site was down from 3 a.m. EST until sometime after 7a.m. The site undergoes nightly repairs, and the Department of Health and Human Services officials said that a fix on a software bug extending in to high traffic hours.
Around 7:47 am on Monday the "system is not available" message switched over to the queueing system. Part of the reasoning behind the White House's recent (and controversial) special enrollment period extension was that it expected the site would get overloaded, as it is right now.
Healthcare.gov has a long history of being down on really important days. Most recently it was down on February 12, aka National Youth Enrollment Day. It was also down for most of October. (The White House'senrollment countdown is also a little glitchy — it's counting hours down in the days column.)
IMO republicans have done a good job convincing Americans they don't need or want ACA they want the same insurance co.'s that have been ripping them for decades with under adequate policies that did not cover half of what they were led to believe, and cries of high premiums by holders,
all of which is rectified by ACA. who do you believe the facts as reported by everybody but republicans, actually they have endorsed it to many in their ranks have signed up well before any deadlines they won't tell you but there are outlets that will.  investigate before you incriminate.
But this isn't a crisis for the White House so much as just a really, really embarrassing event. The federal exchange has been handling traffic well and has, for the most part, left its underperforming days behind. But users who attempt to sign up on Monday can apply for a special enrollment period. The Obama administration has compared it to getting in line to vote on election day
as all who are reading this know computer glitches and stalls and crashes happen in the biggest companies, remember Target and other cyber co.'s who were breached and patron info was compromised, it happens and republicans know it but instead of helping you get insured they are keeping you where they want you in the ins. co.'s back pocket, the one they sit on. recognize
