and now for the republican comedy relief.
A Republican lawmaker in Oklahoma has proposed a controversial way to stopping same-sex marriages in the state.According to News9.com, state Rep. Mike Turner (R) has proposed scrapping marriage in the state altogether.
The lawmaker contends that it is the only way to keep same-sex marriage illegal in the state while still defending the U.S. Constitution.
“[My constituents are] willing to have that discussion about whether marriage needs to be regulated by the state at all,” Turner told Channel 9.
my first thought is, is this guy in a bad marriage and would child care and spousal payments still be in affect, if marriage was dissolved?
Other lawmakers feel the same way, he said. They envision a state that doesn’t recognize any marriages at all.
“That would definitely be a realistic opportunity, and it’s something that would be part of the discussion,” Turner said.
The Republicans currently have what is called a shell bill in the roster of bills on the state house floor. They can call the bill to the floor for debate or rewrite it at a moment’s notice in order to respond to any rulings regarding the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.
what exactly is he envisioning, as many women as he thinks he can handle with no obligation and what about the party's "belief" in the family unit "one man one women kids raised by them" does that go out the window along with marriage?  what is the realistic opportunity?
The fuss in the state house, he said, is just political posturing. Never before, he said, has any state threatened to make all marriage illegal just to stop same-sex couples from marrying.  what about the millions of happily married heteros which is what his party has claimed staunch defense of out the window too?
all this is a big pile of beat up elephant dung that stinks across the nation, penned by a "republican lawmaker" who never specifies what just like their 2012 election, they would not tell us their plan forward and told us they'll tell us after the election, well 5 years after they are going for the gold again and still have not divulged a plan, tells you something doesn't it all they have is put down Pres.'s plan and expect their voters to be satisfied with that, wheres's the beef?
