Article PhotoYou’ve probably read by now that the state of Colorado has become the first state in the nation to allow those 21 and older to purchase marijuana legally for recreational use. The law, which went into effect on January 1st produced huge lines outside of pot shop/outlets to purchase marijuana. Sales of marijuana have hit at least $1 million dollars.
So far, 136 licenses have been issued to businesses to sell marijuana. There has been a fake story that claims one of the shops- Rite Greens, located on E. Colfax Ave in Denver ‘has taken the steps needed to accept food stamps (now called EBT cards) for the purposes of purchasing marijuana effectively leading to taxpayer funder marijuana for welfare recipients.’
This fake story received over 11,000 likes on Facebook. The story stated the following: storeowner of Rite Greens, JC Franco in an interview with National Report said, “Everyone should have access to marijuana. If a user is not able to afford their buds on a limited budget then having taxpayers help cover the shortage is only fair. This isn’t a right only for the wealthy.”
The story also claimed Franco found a loophole in the Food Stamp program because his shop sells ‘a wide array of edible marijuana ranging from cookies and brownies to barbeque sauce to homemade butter.’
don't need to be a detective to figure out what group is behind this scare tactic that spins into an anti food stamp story qualifying the republicans wanting to test before getting stamps or they can revive the story of doing just what the article said buy weed with food stamps, stinks someone had elephant dung on their shoes.
The fake article, in trying to get laughs quotes a Denver resident, Paul Homer saying, ““Where will this all end? First it was Obamaphones, then Obamacare, now Obamaweed? Will we be paying for tattoos, manicures, body piercings, gay marriages and p**n next?”
Here’s what you need to know: “There’s no way food stamps can be used to buy marijuana. Food stamps are strictly limited to purchasing food and beverages, and are not allowed to be used for anything outside of that. The food stamps aren’t even allowed to be used for food that is ready-made.”
don't remember hearing it called Obamaweed where is this guys mind? they also left out you can't buy alcoholic beverages with food stamps too.
