Daily Kos: Rush Limbaugh Attacks Pope for Acting Like Jesus

i know this is old but i just ran across it.
This week incendiary right wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh raised eyebrows when he called Pope Francis a "pure Marxist" (first mentioned in this diary).
The comments marked the end of Limbaugh's short-lived bromance with the pontiff.
Back in March, just two days after Francis donned the funny hat, the egocentric Limbaugh went all weak kneed over the possibility that his doppelganger had just become the world's most powerful religious leader:
"Pope Francis I is bad news for the Drive-By Media. He is adamantly opposed to abortion. He is adamantly opposed to euthanasia. He has called the pro-choice movement a culture of death. He opposes same-sex marriage, which he has called demonic in origin. He opposes gay adoption on the grounds that it is discriminatory to the child. He opposed Argentina's legalizing of same-sex marriage.
And this man, if you had to categorize him, you would have to call him -- and I really don't like doing this, but if it will help facilitate, help people understand, it would be accurate to say that he is a conservative. He's a conservative theologian.
You know another reason why the left -- and not just the left, by the way. Let's just say the reason why people in general, but particularly on the left, are made nervous by people like Pope Francis, is because they're certain. They are filled with resolve. They're confident -- happily so, by the way. Glowingly, happily so. But it is that certitude that bothers them.
By definition, the pope is orthodox, staunchly or otherwise. By definition! There won't be a pope that isn't. That's the whole point. It's not unusual, in other words, that a pope would be orthodox, that a pope would be certain... So what the left tries to do, is you're going to hear them fill this pope with praise for his behavior toward the poor and people in the Third World and his everyman status. It's going to be an attempt to soften him up, because eventually what they want him to do is renounce Christ."
For a couple of beautiful months there it was Rush and Francis against the liberal world.
what a dip stick this guy is this is an example of right wing leaping before looking, he was so "hell bent" on associating his blasphemous butt to something he thought was like him boy did his mind get tricked.
I mentioned, last night -- I was doing show prep last night -- usual routine. And I ran across this -- I don't actually know what it's called -- the latest papal offering, statement from Pope Francis. Now, up until this -- I'm not Catholic. Up until this, I have to tell you, I was admiring the man. I thought he was going a little overboard on the "common man" touch, and I thought there might have been a little bit of PR involved there.
But nevertheless, I was willing to cut him some slack. I mean, if he wants to portray himself as still from the streets of where he came from and is not anything special, not aristocratic, if he wants to eschew the physical trappings of the Vatican -- OK, cool, fine.
But this that I came across last night -- I mean, it totally befuddled me. If it weren't for capitalism, I don't know where the Catholic Church would be. Now, as I mentioned before, I'm not Catholic. I admire it profoundly, and I've been tempted a number of times to delve deeper into it. But the pope here has now gone beyond Catholicism here, and this is pure political. Now, I want to share with you some of this stuff.
"Pope Francis attacked unfettered capitalism as 'a new tyranny.' He beseeched global leaders to fight poverty and growing inequality, in a document on Tuesday setting out a platform for his papacy and calling for a renewal of the Catholic Church. In it, Pope Francis went further than previous comments criticizing the global economic system, attacking the 'idolatry of money.' "
now the put down because he was not the carbon copy of the racist Rush he thought he might be, he was wrong but rather than say i was wrong he proceeds to talk him down which makes all that enamoured crap he was spewing was self serving and not in his head reflective of Pope Frankie but reflective of himself, wonder what he would have said had he turned out to be a puppet Pope?  those who follow him are they going to accept this demeaning and worship at the feet of Racist Rush or has he gone to far this time?
