is the old windbag thinking on his feet or is he telling the truth for a change if so why the wait seems he would have been on correcting that like a lion on a pork chop or him on a pork chop.
either way did he need time to think it up or someone gave him the heads up to keep his right wing involvement.
after all that is his audience, but you can't dismiss the Fox putting him in the seat next to the restroom when he wanted to say what he wanted to say, hard to be told to stifle yourself when you're used to driving the rhetoric in your direction.

that sounds contrived and disingenuous i think he was covering with a blanket from murdoch down, his feelings were hurt he does what he knows attack on the air, the Rivera reference i think he picked because he is a path of least resistance that anyone would listen to.
