What happens to whistleblowers?

Article PhotoEdward Snowden might want to talk to a slew of recent national security leakers who learned a lesson the hard way: whistleblowing comes at a price.
Thomas Tamm, the DOJ attorney who told the New York Times about the National Security Agency’s surveillance program in 2004, struggled to stay employed for the five years he was under federal investigation.
And he was one of the lucky ones. Thomas Drake, a former National Security Agency official who helped expose a wasteful NSA surveillance program without privacy protections, is working in an Apple store.
And Matt Diaz, the Navy lawyer who secretly sent a list of Guantanamo Bay prisoners to a New York civil rights firm, was disbarred and now does non-legal work for the Bronx public defender’s office.
they call them security, secret, top secret, your eyes only because they were not meant for public consumption.  like they said last night if there were an attack as a result of something that may have been picked up during these sweeps they would be up in arms Obama's fault he's not keeping us safe, he's leading from behind, he's to soft on terrorism,
of course those were and would be again right wing attacks, these rants against are not started by the electorate they are political misinformation and since it's security we all are up in arms, well without them we might very well be without arms or life,.
is freedom to say something on the phone or email more important then the security to be able to say those things, can't have one without the other.
If Snowden’s life turns out like other national security whistleblowers, his life will never be the same — leaving him to grapple with huge legal bills, poor job prospects, and a notoriety that will never really go away.
But if Snowden is returned to the United States, Tamm said, “I think with the right representation, and with the right way of presenting what he did, I think he’ll be able to put his life back together.” Tamm says he’d even be willing to be part of the defense team.
i don't believe that to be true not enough of the any cause that slams the gov't is their cause people out there he broke the law with only his own misguided thoughts of what the ramifications might be to other Americans, irresponsible treason.
