Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has given Sen. Joe Manchin (D-
W.Va.) until 5 p.m. Tuesday to reach a background checks deal with Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), according to several sources close to the issue.
If there’s no agreement by that deadline, Reid will move to start debate over a gun-control package that is a wish list for gun-control advocates. But Republicans have already threatened to filibuster the bill, and it is unlikely to pass in its current form.
If there is no deal and a filibuster is surmounted, votes on the Democratic package could start as early as Thursday.
he's talking loud but is he saying something? republican don't like ultimatums their panties get all in a bunch,
i do like the idea of calling them out if they go and vote no then it will be plain to see where their interest will lie come 2014, if yes on the bill they will lessen the hard feelings of some, but one frame does not a movie make and it is on decent thing out of many they agred to.
Meanwhile, President Barack Obama has ratcheted up the pressure on lawmakers to pass a bill, haranguing Republicans on Monday in Connecticut for threatening a filibuster. Obama planned to spend part of Tuesday afternoon calling both Democratic and Republican senators to push them on his gun control agenda, a White House official said.
i still say if you have to think about whether to do the right thing or go along to gt along you need another job.
Americans should hold their elected ones feet to the fire permanently if you don't do the job you won't have a chance to claim a  change because you will be in the rear view.
