In a fit of pique Friday, Fox‘s Megyn Kelly took Rachel Maddow to task for calling Justice Antonin Scalia a “troll.” Maddow was on The Daily Show Thursday night when she and host Jon Stewart discussed the Supreme Court and its review of the Voting Rights Act and Maddow’s being at the court for arguments. Scalia’s comment about “racial entitlement” came up and Maddow said:“It’s weird to see Antonin Scalia in person. He’s a troll. He’s saying this for effect. He knows it’s offensive, and he knows he’s going to get a gasp from the courtroom which he got. And he loves it. He’s like the guy in your blog comment thread who’s using the n-word. … He’s that kind of guy.” (Source)Well, Megyn found that offensive so she went off on Maddow on her own show, America Live on Friday. She spoke first about Scalia’s remarks. Then, referring to Maddow only as “a liberal commentator,” Kelly scolded her, saying that she personally objected to “that sort of language” being used against the Supreme Court justice. She went on…“I don’t think it does anybody any good. I think they vote their consciences up there whether they’re left or right.” (Source)
first who gives a gnats crap about what she thinks, and the hypocrisy is running rampant on Fox, 4 years a demeaning the Pres. erroneously they laughed and piled on, one truth from a respected reporter and " oh the humanity", how can you condone the speech of your own org including yourself and feign indignance about the padded courts chief. pot kettle syndrome?
Kelly used to cover the Supreme Court as a legal reporter and, before that, was an attorney. I know… hard to believe, isn’t it? As a legal reporter who covered the Supreme Court, Kelly ought to know that it is not the justices’ job to vote their consciences. Their job is to vote according to the Constitution.
Bridgette P. LaVictoire of lezgetreal.com noted that Kelly apparently doesn’t understand the usage of the word “troll” as Maddow meant it. She points out that Maddow didn’t mean it in the sense of a fairy tale creature but in the Internet sense of “someone who says things for effect and knows it is offensive.” Scalia fits that definition.
And it’s not as if Kelly’s network is virginal when it comes to calling people names. Pat Caddell called the Democratic party a “confederacy of gangsters” and defended Ann Coulter when she used a homophobic word to describe John Edwards. Bill O’Reilly referred to protesters at the Republican National Convention as “terrorists” and Mike Straka called anti-war protestors “jobless, anti-American, clueless, smelly, stupid traitors” and “protesters from hell.” And I don’t even have room to list all the names Kelly herself has called President Obama. What is it they say about people who live in glass houses? Yeah, Megyn, you would do well to put those stones down and look to your own words.
i love that about Fox persons they never check or think about their own backyard before attacking someone it's like a junk yard dog they see leap and run around the set with it in their mouths not their heads. Romney didn't blame Fox did he?
facts we don't need no stinkin' facts, Rachel's better looking too.
