i was watching MSNBC topic scotus and doma which prompted me to look this up,
Where in the bible does it say that god hates gays?People have just taken religion way too far. To me, I see religion as a guideline for life. It's not supposed to be taken literally. The garden of eden for example, it's a story, used to represent how man should always follow instructions, and follow rules, or he will be punished, you don't think that whole thing really happened do you? But anyway, a kid at my school says "Gay" and "F@ggot" constantly.
I asked him politely what he dislikes about them, and why there is anything wrong with them. He says "God said in the bible that he hates gays and that they should go to hell, and that if god could, he would kill them all".
Real intelligent answer huh? The sad thing is that there are a lot of people today that actually think like this person. Does it even say anything about gays in the bible?
Leviticus says men laying with other men (as they would with a woman) is an abomination. BUT keep in mind Leviticus also says that eating shellfish is an abomination. Some other sins in Leviticus are wearing clothes made of two types of thread (do you have a cotton/poly shirt? ooooh....you're in trouble!) and planting two crops in the same field. (That's right...keep your corn away from the green beans if you don't want to be punished)Also, when a girl has her period, she has to sacrifice two turtles in order to be clean again. (Not sure what the turtles did wrong, but god wants them to die)
i can't say i disagree it's those who are on top dictating in the name of God their own thoughts
("If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him") Voltaie
did he recognize the gullibility factor and man's ability to exploit others faith i think yes evidenced by right wing and evangelical complicity to influence their voting base.
so now the scotus takes it's place among those who presume to qualify what is and is not good for "w the people" ultimately based on what "they think it should be, fair and honest the jury is still out.
