Islamophobia in America is a serious problem. Anti-Muslim protesters are standing outside of mosques demanding that they be shut down and destroyed. And, for what? Because of a few bad apples overseas? You can’t isolate an entire people for the actions of a few. Every religion and every country have those outliers – they don’t speak for a whole race. When a white guy shoots up a black church, you don’t go after white people, do you? Of course not. Still, things are getting out of hand.
People that profoundly profess to be “freedom advocates” aren’t true freedom advocates at all. Here’s what they really are: they’re hate mongers, racists, and above all freedom hypocrites. They don’t understand that Muslims have the same rights as Christians. We are a nation of laws. Someone needs to tell them.
The Republican presidential candidates running for office aren’t helping either. Recently Donald Trump refused to correct a supporter at one of his rallies who loudly declared “Muslims are a problem in this country” and that if he were president he should “get rid of ’em.” GOP frontrunner Ben Carson even boldly stated that he didn’t think a Muslim should be president of the U.S.
This kind of anti-Muslim rhetoric is dangerous.
Here’s a simple answer to their question: NO.
In America, unlike some other countries, you can wear whatever you want. There are millions of Muslims living in the United States today, and they have rights. Not all Muslim women choose to conceal themselves, but some do. Those that hate on Muslims don’t think they’re true Americans, which is the real problem. They don’t see Muslims as human beings simply because they have a different faith and way of life. It’s a good thing we have a constitution that they claim to love.
