Chris Christie just doesn’t know how to pick his battles. On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, he verbally attacked the President and falsely stated that Obama doesn’t support the police – a ridiculous assertion. Here is what he said, in part:
“We have liberal policies that tie the hands behind the backs of police officers and then when incidents happen, accuse them of misconduct first and then do the investigation later. And you’ve got a president of the United States who does not support law enforcement. Simply doesn’t.”
When the comments were brought up at the White House’s press briefing, here is how Press Secretary Josh Earnest responded:
Q: New Jersey’s governor has spent the morning on television railing against the President for taking credit for things he didn’t do and repeating his claim that the President is insufficiently supportive of law enforcement. Do you have any reactions to his comments?
EARNEST: I’ve noted before that Governor Christie’s comments in this regard have been particularly irresponsible, but not surprising for somebody whose poll numbers are closer to an asterisk than they are double digits.
OUCH.
Didn’t take much to swat Chris Christie down like the little fly that he is. The best part? Every bit of it was true, unlike the Governor’s asinine assertion. In fact, the latest national poll has him only taking 1% of the vote. He’s not even close to double digits. The White House could have easily revised their statement to say “closer to an asterisk than they are to single digits.”
He’s been hitting similar low polling numbers for some time now. That’s a big problem – for him that is. The next Republican debate on Fox Business is only a week away, and that means he won’t make it on the big stage – he’ll be forced to participate in the kiddie debate with the other low polling candidates. Maybe that’s why he’s thinking he has nothing to lose by going after Obama. Makes sense.
Still, despite all of this, Chris Christie thinks he is going to be President. Just a few days ago he oddly stated that he had no doubt in his mind he’d be elected. What’s this guy smoking?
desperation is a sad reaction but even sadder when you are just blowing smoke, stay down don't look like the sad boxer and one last humiliation although it does become you. making your way into history books as a side footnote only gets you remembered if they look down and off center.
