This week, the U.S. Army announced that CPT Kristen Griest and 1LT Shaye Haver made history as the first two women to ever complete Ranger school at Fort Benning in Georgia. The response from many men (who apparently feel threatened by the accomplishments of these two soldiers) was sadly predictable and they took to the U.S. Army Fort Benning Facebook page to question whether the female soldiers were given special treatment,
raving about President Obama and the "political correctness" of the liberal movement and yada yada. What they probably didn't expect was that the soldiers who run the U.S. Army Fort Benning Facebook page weren't having any of it. While many of the comments appear to have been deleted, @KatanaPen on Twitter was able to grab a screenshot of some of the comments and replies:
It should be noted that the overwhelming number of comments on their Facebook page were positive and congratulatory. It's a shame the trolls couldn't sit back and appreciate the historic accomplishment of these two soldiers and all their fellow soldiers.
In the meantime, the families of Griest and Haver released a statement:
“CPT Griest and LT Haver are just like all the Soldiers in Class 8-15 - happy, relieved, and ready for some good food and sleep. Like everyone who will pin the tab on Friday, they are exceptional Soldiers and strong teammates.”
The families are asking that you respect their privacy and the privacy of all the families and friends of Ranger Class 8-15. This is a monumental and joyous occasion for all 96 Soldiers who will be pinning on the Ranger tab on Friday, August 21.
The journey of Class 8-15 has been exciting and exhausting and just as they trained as a team, they wish to celebrate as a team.
it's a shame how some can make a distinction between men and women being military when people like Tammy Duckworth get demeaned and defamed for her service and paying for it first femal double amputee can anyone of those facebook trolls make a claim of dedication close to that??????

this guy gets kicked out of the Army and congress but still tries to belittle Tammy

and where does the republican House "N" go?

like i said at the end of the day to republicans he's still that "N" over there.  sorry i have nothing but disdain for this azzhole got me off track but still relevant to this article and responses to women and military service other vthan at a desk or fund raiser.
