When I hear some, like Senator McCain recently, suggest that our Secretary of State, John Kerry, who served in the United States Senate, a Vietnam veteran, who’s provided exemplary service to this nation, is somehow less trustworthy in the interpretation of what’s in a political agreement than the Supreme Leader of Iran — that’s an indication of the degree to which partisanship has crossed all boundaries. And we’re seeing this again and again. We saw it with the letter by the 47 senators who communicated directly to the Supreme Leader of Iran — the person that they say can’t be trusted at all — warning him not to trust the United States government.
We have Mitch McConnell trying to tell the world, oh, don’t have confidence in the U.S. government’s abilities to fulfill any climate change pledge that we might make. And now we have a senator suggesting that our Secretary of State is purposely misinterpreting the deal and giving the Supreme Leader of Iran the benefit of the doubt in the interpretations.
That’s not how we’re supposed to run foreign policy, regardless of who’s President or Secretary of State. We can have arguments, and there are legitimate arguments to be had. I understand why people might be mistrustful of Iran. I understand why people might oppose the deal — although the reason is not because this is a bad deal per se, but they just don’t trust any deal with Iran, and may prefer to take a military approach to it.
But when you start getting to the point where you are actively communicating that the United States government and our Secretary of State is somehow spinning presentations in a negotiation with a foreign power, particularly one that you say is your enemy, that’s a problem. It needs to stop.
about time Pres. is kicking republican butt and taking names. i find it hard to believe anyone excepts the republican agenda as anything other then treason or mutiny at best. they are so anally invested in sinking this Pres. that nothing else matters not their sworn obligation to their elected offices not what you need is ignored for what they say you want FYI you want the rich to keep raking it in while you are jobless with no unemployment check or food stamps or healthcare you know the stuff it takes to live. and to shamelessly attempt to discredit the Pres. internationally only diminishes any trust in them. congress has a 10% approval rating and Pres. 44% but i have to say who they polled and the way the worded the questions can influence the answer while i think congress deserves 10% less than they have i don't see Pres. deserving those numbers.
our electorate is fickle they vote for practically any reason except qualification and job history a real problem we can lose good leaders and end up with republicans. people don't research enough they take what their favorite channel and personality says which sometimes is an over or understated opinion or just a bald faced lie but when you rely on one source you inevitably become half cocked and so do the words that leave your mouth. what sounds like a slick cool put down can be the lie you tell unwittingly and get laughed at or call out for your error it's embarrassing especially when you relay it with conviction.
elected leaders are part of the gov't if they are irresponsible and collude with others to undermine the gov't than they no longer are in service to the country but to another agenda, we pay for people we don't know anything about to influence those you thought you knew when you pushed the button in the voting booth. those people forfeit any rights to our money our offices our chairs or transportation or on our TV, problem is they think it all does belong to them, do we keep being all day suckers or do we give a damn and make that change from the peon status the right wing has relegated us to or do "WE TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY"????
