Democrats: We must better explain what it means to be a Dem

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats are struggling to answer a simple question — "What's a Democrat?" — and must do a better job of explaining their core values to voters, according to a task force formed after the party's dismal showing in the 2014 election.
"I am here to tell you the Democratic Party has lost its way," said a panel member, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear. The problems are not with the "party's core beliefs," he said, but relate to "our inability to convey our principles to the American people in a precise, concise and passionate way."
According to interim findings in the Democratic National Committee's report released Saturday, Democrats lack a "cohesive narrative" and need to find ways to help their party explain bedrock values such as
The 10-member task force went to work after Democrats were clobbered in November, surrendering control of the Senate to Republicans and allowing the GOP to pad its majority in the House. Republicans captured governor's offices in Massachusetts, Maryland and Illinois — all safe Democratic states in presidential elections — and strengthened their grip on state legislatures.
two things one would think first we need to change that verbiage sounds like it was taken directly from the republican arrogant remark of not having to change their "VALUES" now known as "PRINCIPLES", although i agree the core values are as they've been for the people and the country.  second why should we have to explain fairness, equality and opportunity?  if the electorate doesn't know what those things are we are really up the creek without paddles or a boat.

i mostly blame the old guard for not having Pres.'s back they saw the opposition and should have pulled his coat but republicans did such a great job getting their fabrications out there with no resistance, the electorate is fickle they vote mostly for the wrong reasons except the last two times but they still in between allowed the misleading's to influence them and instead of dancing with the one that brung them they decided to stay home and be disloyal and mostly lost sight of  "YES WE CAN" and instead decided "that's what we elected you for".  if you won't fight for your own butt you deserve to have it beaten.
The losses have led to soul-searching among Democrats as they try to translate success in presidential elections under Barack Obama into midterm elections dominated by congressional campaigns. Many party leaders contend that Democrats should have run more aggressively on Obama's record last year and drawn sharp distinctions with Republicans.
"Whenever we let the other guys talk the way they talk about our president, about our leadership, about our values, we're going to lose," Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy told the DNC on Thursday. He said too many Democrats tried to be "Republicans lite."
therein lies our conundrum, and the truest words i've heard in years.  if we allow the republican fabrications to go unchallenged immediately after they are published or don't demand those rebuked and outright lies that TV host allow to stand are not called to challenge as well we will be here next year.

change the rhetoric Debbie sounds like the same words from the republicans we need to point out and put to task.  if we don't redress our ways and words we will see 2016 from the rear view mirror.  and our base,  fight for republican control or for Democrat governing and let's not become the party of stupid 2.0. recognize
