In Jefferson County, Colorado, a far-right school board proposed a curriculum change for history classes that would "promote patriotism" by leaving out historical facts about the Black Panther Party, the Trail of Tears and more:
Materials should promote citizenship, patriotism, essentials and benefits of the free enterprise system, respect for authority and respect for individual rights. Materials should not encourage or condone civil disorder, social strife or disregard of the law.
The proposed changes outraged students and teachers alike, prompting more than a month of protests. The school board isn't backing down and this week the students of Jefferson County planned their own civil disobedience at a school board meeting:
About 10 students either read out of turn about historical figures, known for acts of civil disobedience, at a podium or from their seats. Another dozen students also recited the Pledge of Allegiance before making a mass exit.note now just a week from the desertion republicans are right on track with their negative agenda like when their scotus gave the citizens united and struck down voter rights 4 they were back at the voter suppression within hours. you've read the reports seen the news and read this blog how could two thirds stay home 10 million millennial's voted and this is what they voted for?
if they are indeed our future America can bend over and kiss it's butt goodbye and wave hello to not what you've seen the last 6 years but something worse depending on 2016. we have seen them rebel against right wing policies but this shows somebody was wrong. taxation without representation also applies to those who don't use their vote they can only blame themselves and we can look at them with a stink eye for failing to do their part one way or the other.
The students also brought a list of demands
As part of their demonstration, the students said they had four demands: a public apology from the school board’s conservative majority for referring to students as “union pawns;” a reversal of an earlier decision to amend content review policies; proof from the board that they listen and act on community input instead of what students called an “ideological” agenda; and more resources for classroom instruction.can you believe that the reference to pawns is indicative of their desire to indoctrinate them in to obedient republican Stepford students, there is a glaring omission of what the parents had to say about the proposed brain washing of their children in to a cult of hate, racism and bigotry, or did they approve, where's the love for their children must be with those pesky elusive WMD's, leaving them to fight for their own ideas and perceptions.
