Six black kids from #Ferguson, MO bluntly and sarcastically educate white America about the racist reality in 2014. Recruited from the very block where unarmed black teen Michael Brown was gunned down by a white police officer, these kids ranging in age from 6 to 13 years old, use sometimes uncomfortable humor to show white people the continued racism their generation faces. Armed ONLY with statistics (hands up, don't shoot) these articulate and adorable kids are not having it while much of white America would rather pretend racism is over.
I forwarded links to the YouTube video, "liked" it and tweeted it. I couldn't help noticing that it currently has 385 "likes" (thumbs up) and 860 "dislikes"(thumbs down) and a number of people are flagging it for removal for being "racist".
As I discussed Sunday, in "Fighting racism … one keystroke at a time", it doesn't take a lot of effort on our part to push back against the haters.
The virulent messages currently on display run the racism gamut:
I didn't want to post the radical replies they are shameful and typical of those who think they are the superior race they call them "RACIST". what those kids did was not only brave living in a racial quagmire such as Ferguson, but truly the voices of the future. this too is why they don't have to take the country back it never left the dark place it was born in and those who oppose can not advance when their backward actions will forever brand them as the hateful scourge of America.
these same bigots wrap themselves in a Bible they obviously don't respect because they only embrace the words they can twist. "a little child shall lead them" that one is completely ignored.
