TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Twenty subpoenas for documents are being issued to people and organizations in the investigation into a traffic jam scandal that involves New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s associates.
The subpoenas went out Thursday, soon after the state Assembly authorized a special committee to extend its inquiry.
Assemblyman John Wisinewski, who is leading the investigation, would not name any subpoena recipients until the documents are served, presumably by Friday.
However, he has indicated that people whose names appeared in previously obtained emails and text messages are likely to receive subpoenas.
They include fired Christie aide Bridget Anne Kelly and former Christie campaign manager Bill Stepien.
they are rolling like a snowball down a hill, this looks good as far as legal inquiries are concerned.  Christie made a derogatory statement when he said "he would be open to all appropriate questions" who makes that determination if he thinks he should than he'll open up more scrutiny if he refuses on that point.
the news keeps reporting political payback as the reason why, but the billion dollar land grab at the foot of GWB on the Ft. Lee sde seems to be more of an incentive to hurt Americans going to school, work, hospital than a payback that was denied as ever happening.  good reporting by MSNBC's Steve Kornaki
