11th hour retro law does not excuse the fact that republicans are punishing those who are jobless because primarily they refuse to pass the jobs bill to excuse.
Some 1.3 million Americans are set to lose their unemployment benefits Saturday, escalating a battle between proponents of smaller government and advocates for the jobless who say the move will hurt the overall economy.
Federal emergency benefits will end when funds run out for a program created during the recession to supplement the benefits that states provide. The cutoff will initially affect 1.3 million people, but 1.9 million more will lose benefits by mid-2014 when their 26 weeks of state paychecks run out, according to the National Employment Law Project.
Benefits average about $300 a week.
those politicians take home about $3,365.00 a week that is cold and uncaring an undeserving of your vote Nov. 4th 2014
it is inhumane to leave your job with over a million Americans going down the tubes while those who could correct sit around the table family happy and full and playing with their gifts, and those they are sworn to uphold and protect their rights, this ignoring the damage that doing nothing can cause to those families a feeling i'm sure 11 months won't was away.
"From a human level, cutting 1.3 million Americans off their lifeline doesn't make any sense and it's not anything we should be doing," Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., said Thursday in a conference call with reporters.
Opponents say it's time to end the program now that unemployment has fallen from a Oct. 2009 peak of 10% to 7.0%.
isn't that more people than the 5% the republicans screamed would have to pay higher health care, it didn't say those people would not be able to feed their family or pay bills or buy gas to look for a job, why are they not screaming for more Americans that through their indifferent do nothing attitude will suffer more and could lose everything?
