US employers added 175,000 jobs in May, a figure that shows steady hiring but is below the more robust pace that took place during the fall and winter.
Article PhotoThe Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate rose to 7.6% from 7.5% in April. The increase occurred because more people began looking for work, a good sign. About three-quarters found jobs, while the rest added to the ranks of the unemployed.
The government said the economy added 12,000 fewer jobs in April and March. The statistic is one of the US economy's most-watched barometers.
Employers have added an average of 155,000 jobs in past three months, below the average of 237,000 created from November through February.
i would think those who those jobs and those waiting it still looks a lot better than hemorrhaging 750,000 a month. full employment is getting closer and closer, i might dare if not for the right wing resistance to and recovery or advancement of country or you.  if that's the straw that broke the camels back fall back on 2014.
Manufacturers cut 8,000 jobs, and the federal government shed 14,000. Both were the third straight month of cuts for those industries.
The economy grew at a solid annual rate of 2.4% in the first three months of the year. Consumer spending rose at the fastest pace in more than two years. But economists worry that steep government spending cuts and higher Social Security pension taxes might be slowing growth in the April-June quarter to an annual rate of 2% or less
all this does not jive with the end of days republicans keep predicting, they will slow it down when "we the people" let them know that their scare tactics are old and not working.
we have a responsibility ourselves for ourselves "YES WE CAN".
