Powerhouse Republican fundraiser Haley Barbour today described the current campaign finance laws as a “bad system.”The law forces individuals to give “under the table” to political action committees instead of directly and transparently to candidates themselves, Barbour said. Still, he maintained that PACs have a legitimate role in the current system because they allow individuals to contribute unlimited funds to support a cause or a candidate.American Crossroads, which has raised more than $100 million for the 2012 elections, supports Republican candidates.Barbour also discussed presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign. He described the former Massachusetts governor as “not that conservative,” challenging former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s controversial statement earlier this week that the GOP has little room for political disagreement.
even if Barbour's intent is legitimate essentially whats the difference, you have billionaires here and abroad capable of buying our country under the single donor farce and still kick in those millions, after all according to the right wing candidate "corporations are people too".
we don't know where or who that should alone scare the crap out of any real American. we don't know if Ahmadinejad, Bin Laden, Qaddafi, or drug cartels we don't know who is influencing our political existence.
the scotus was well aware of the potential Pandora's box they opened with that little doosy.
if i were Pres. my first day would start with redrafting to change the status and MO of the SCOTUS no more lifetime appts. elected not appointed, to easy to rig, and transparency. now there is no guarntee of fair and just decisions. there should be 8 justices with an independent non partisan as a tie breaker prefably a women. we can dream until we do.
