Study: 9.6 million people would lose insurance if the U.S. Supreme Court guts Obamacare

Supreme Court Justices John Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Anthony Kennedy

Republicans, and the plaintiffs in the King v. Burwell case, want to convince the U.S. Supreme Court that striking down the federal subsidies for all the people getting health insurance through the federal health insurance exchange under Obamacare wouldn't really do much harm. A new study from the nonpartisan RAND Corporation think tank says otherwise, finding that 9.6 million people would lose their coverage if their subsidies were taken away.
In addition, unsubsidized individual market premiums would rise by 47 percent in those states. The hike would correspond to a $1,610 annual increase for a 40-year-old nonsmoker who purchased a silver-level plan.
"The disruption would cause significant instability and threaten the viability of the individual health insurance market in the states involved," said Christine Eibner, the study's senior author and a senior economist at RAND, a nonprofit research organization. "Our analysis confirms just how much the subsidies are an essential component to the functioning of the ACA-compliant individual market."
given the republican track record they again neglected to do any research i think the hve become complacent and takes their base for granted they mislead, under inform, and just out right lie to them, G W Bush, "you can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on" but their form of concentration is more of the camp type brainwashing and convincing them to hate the rest of the country because they don't agree with them,

scaring those who put more stock in being able to go into a store with a AK-47 across the shoulder fighting for what they will soon realize the republicans have taken, they say you don't miss it till it's gone heads up moment gone is to late but for some of you you still got that gun and will kill gov't agents if they try to take them away, you should be proud but obviously you're not.

Dear Obama Hater - You Just Wasted A Decade Of Your Life

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/04/1355556/-Dear-Obama-Hater-You-Just-Wasted-A-Decade-Of-Your-Life?detail=email

Lots of you  continue to get unhinged emails from people on Facebook, your drunk uncle, and various Tea Party relatives.  Here's a gentle response to them....
Pretty soon Obama will be gone and you will have to face up to the fact that you will have lost a whole decade of your life passing around conspiracy theories and whipping yourself into a frenzy of hatred.  All of you lost friends, severed relationships with family members, and some of you even lost your job or your marriage due to your unhinged behavior.
You lost that decade wailing about Obama the gay Communist Muslim narcissist dictator who was going to let the UN invade America and various hoaxes like "death panels," birth certificates, Iraq's WMDs, and the "Ground Zero Mosque" (remember how you wasted two years of your life over that?).  Just think of what you could have accomplished if you hadn't wasted all that time.  You could have gotten a college degree, you could have written a book, you could have run your first marathon, you could have built a boat and sailed it around the world. You could learned to speak another language - oh wait, you never would have done that.
You kept waiting for Obama to be impeached or for the GOP candidates to "take off the gloves." But they never did because your favorite stories were hoaxes, and the GOP can't impeach or win the White House based on hoaxes. No doubt you were waiting for someone, anyone,  in the White House to be indicted or arrested, like all those people under Nixon and Reagan and Bush, but no dice.
Many of you will never recover from this experience.  Physically, your health is no doubt worse for having lost a decade watching television and whipping yourself into a frenzy of hatred. Your ability to reason is probably permanently damaged, and nobody really wants to listen to your opinions anyway. Yes, you can successfully annoy the waitress at the diner, because she can't run away from a customer, but that doesn't mean she agrees with you. Some of you will be going into nursing homes because people gave up on you a long time ago and nobody can stand to listen to one more day of you babbling about Saul Alinsky (who died in 1972, by the way).
Some of you have no doubt suffered financially from all the time you wasted hating Obama.  But some of you have actually done very very well under his "anticapitalist," "communist," "dictatorship." You do know that the economy usually does much better under Democrats, right? And that the best four years of job creation in the last 50 years was under Jimmy Carter, right?
The next two years would be a good chance to start making amends to your families and trying to rebuild relations with people in your life.  Yes we know there's another election in 2016 and you'll be falling down the next rabbit hole of insanity, but try to leave your families with a few memories of you acting like a normal human being.
And the next time there is a GOP president, just remember that there will be fatal embassy attacks under the GOP president, just like the dozens of fatal embassy attacks that occurred under previous Republican presidents.  Except Democrats won't be working themselves into a frenzy of conspiracy theories when it happens, they won't be cheerleading for the terrorists, and they won't be trying to overthrow the US government every time something happens.
i felt compelled to paste the entire open letter in case someone didn't read the article.  those of you who have been around for awhile might remember me writing a few times about those who chose to hate, that can turn into a 24/7 task you get all consumed especially if you are reinforced by fellow haters and those you count on to deliver the red meat nothing like faux confirmation of something as anti social and self demeaning as the ideology of bigotry and racism.

you find yourself thinking all day about how much you hate if it's someone like the Prers. you hear or see something at every turn and it just gut wrenches you,  then you go home kick the cat maybe hit a family member take a few throwbacks but that only makes you drunker and more ill tempered at dinner not a happy table.  then it's bed time still eating at you how much you hate you toss turn and another restless night that leads to another day of irritation and it's deja vu all over again.

one thing that totally eludes the hater is why isn't his/her anger based on their own reasons but on somebody on Fox misleading misinformation?  then the biggee the guy you hate probably doesn't know it or you and all your hate becomes not so clear because it's really you that has created the whole thing and it's only you and your family that suffer because you hate someone kinda hard to enjoy life or love thy neighbor like the Bible says when you're all tied up in your own personal knot.

then there's another kick in the head the guy you spent the last 6 years hating was giving you and yours everything you need to realize a good life and those who were on your side and cheering you on as yo repeated their hate rhetoric verbatim were standing behind you laughing at you while conspiring to take it all away turning that decade of your life into another and another waste.

[White] Woman Goes on Shooting Spree, yet somehow isn't automatically Killed By Police

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/12/30/1354762/--White-Woman-Goes-on-Shooting-Spree-yet-somehow-isn-t-automatically-Killed-By-Police?detail=email#

We've been told repeatedly that if only Eric Garner hadn't resisted, or been so fat, the medical examiner wouldn't have found that his death was a homicide due to asphyxiation.
We've been told that if only Michael Brown hadn't been a vicious cigarillo thug he wouldn't have received a bullet wound in his arm that either came from the back while he was running away, or from the front while he hands were up as he traveled forward at the stunningly rapid speed of 2.59 mph. [Calculated by dividing 25 ft by the 6.572 secs it took to fire the shots that killed him]
We've been told that if only Jonathan Crawford had dropped the toy air-rifle he picked up from the shelves at Walmart within two seconds, that if only Tamir Rice had dropped his BB Gun within one second, and if only Darrien Hunt hadn't been running away as police shot him in the back for "brandishing" an unsharpened Katana Sword, all three of these people would still be alive today.
So then why exactly is this person still alive after going on a violent shooting spree, including pointing her gun at officers while wearing body armor?
for those with the ability to rationalize it's an unanswerable question especially give those cited above and the others we have read or seen news stories about.  the only readily distinguishable thing is they are all Black young and older, the one that got a way so to speak is White the only discernible difference observed in the few fractions of seconds it took to kill the unarmed and no violence at all when a gun was pointed at them, kinda puts all the rhetoric about officers having to make split second life or death decisions that is a judgement call and they made it just not on everyone.  intentional or inept or do they see colors before that split of a split second?

A Tennessee woman is facing multiple charges including attempted first-degree murder for driving around shooting at people, leading a police chase, and pointing her gun at an officer.
Julia Shields, 45, drove around a Chattanooga neighborhood Friday just before 4pm dressed in body armor, randomly shooting into vehicles, WRCB reports.
Officers responded to a call from two victims who said Shields pulled up to their vehicle at a stop sign in a dark colored sedan and began firing into the car. No one was reportedly hurt.
Shields is alleged to have driven around town shooting at people in other vehicles.   Police were called and she was found in a parking lot, where she then led police on a chase and continued to point her weapon at passing cars, and at police during the chase. And if that isn't shocking enough here's the real kicker.
Shields was taken into custody without incident or injury and charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, felony evading arrest, and felony reckless endangerment, according to WRCB.

was she Blessed or given special treatment by police who have killed civilians for much less and not even having a gun, was this real police work given the threat she presented at multiple times to others and the police or was this again special treatment and if so, why?

Sen. Mitch McConnell says the economy is improving because Republicans are in charge

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/07/1356138/-Sen-Mitch-McConnell-says-the-economy-is-improving-because-Republicans-are-in-charge?detail=email

U.S.Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) walks out after President Barack Obama announced the first five "Promise Zones" as promised in last year's State of the Union Address as a way to create jobs in the East Room of the White House in Washington, January 9, 201

The Turtle of Understanding, aka Sen. Mitch McConnell, has spoken."After so many years of sluggish growth, we're finally starting to see some economic data that can provide a glimmer of hope; the uptick appears to coincide with the biggest political change of the Obama Administration's long tenure in Washington, the expectation of a new Republican Congress. So this is precisely the right time to advance a positive, pro-growth agenda."
this one is sure to make top 2 dumbest things said by a republican in history, think about it they spent the last 6 years starting with stimulus telling us how they failed the things that had not been implicated train wrecks and my favorite an abomination and are still todat referring to all that have proven to be successful with the same warmed over rhetoric now in the 13th hour they want to take credit?
reminds me of Bin Lade after Pres. efforts got him they want to give Bush the credit and Cheyney still saying "we got Bin Laden" it's sad when you have to live vicariously through someone you pretend to hate but isn't imitation the most serious form of flattery to keep claiming kudo's that belong to another is an indictment on your own inability to achieve.  as for Bush,

throughout history White guys have taken credit for acheivements of Black men nothings changed, how many have you not given a thought that it was someone other than the guy history books have told you?

Senate Democratic minority snagged 20 million more votes than GOP majority

The people spoke all right—and they gave the 46 Senate Democrats now in office 20 million more votes than the 54 Republicans who are currently running the show, reports Dylan Matthews at Vox.
But here's a crazy fact: those 46 Democrats got more votes than the 54 Republicans across the 2010, 2012, and 2014 elections. According to Nathan Nicholson, a researcher at the voting reform advocacy group FairVote, "the 46 Democratic caucus members in the 114th Congress received a total of 67.8 million votes in winning their seats, while the 54 Republican caucus members received 47.1 million votes."
Part of this discrepancy is due to the fact that most of the GOP's senators come from less populated states.
The problem isn't that the deck is stacked in favor of Republicans. The problem is that the deck is stacked in favor of small states, which receive equal representation in the Senate despite dramatic variance in population.
But it still means that the Democratic minority garnered 20 million more votes from U.S. citizens overall than the GOP majority.

just like 2012 when republicans running around beating their chest saying "the American people voted us back in" reality check their gerrymandering and voter obstruction allowed them to steal that election Dems got the over a million more popular votes,  IMO the deck is stacked until the gerrymandered states again represent it's populace,  not as many like them as they want to say those staying home this midterm just handed it to them no silver platter just indifference hope that was a teaching moment, like the store stay home miss the sale. and sect 4 of voter rights act is restored.

Boehner taking revenge on Republicans who voted against him as speaker

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/07/1356104/-Boehner-taking-revenge-on-Republicans-who-voted-against-him-as-speaker?detail=email

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) calls on a reporter during a news conference at the Republican National Committee offices on Capitol Hill in Washington October 23, 2013. After a bruising defeat over Obamacare in the government shutdown, Republicans

Kansas Rep. Tim Huelskamp, one of the 25 Republicans who voted against Speaker John Boehner on Tuesday, says "My colleagues fully expect" retaliation for those votes. Which is good, because the retaliation against some of them has already started:
Boehner moved swiftly to boot two of the insurgents from the influential Rules Committee. That could be just the start of payback for the speaker’s betrayers, who might see subcommittee chairmanships and other perks fall away in the coming months.
Boehner’s allies have thirsted for this kind of action from the speaker, saying he’s let people walk all over him for too long and is too nice to people who are eager to stab him in the back. The removal of Florida Reps. Daniel Webster and Richard Nugent from Rules was meant as a clear demonstration that what Boehner and other party leaders accepted during the previous Congress is no longer acceptable, not with the House’s biggest GOP majority in decades.
we are now seeing out front and personal the republican civil war they claimed didn't exist is now at least 2 years old happy birthday can we see the non birth certificate?  i also wonder is this where Christie got the idea to gangster strong arm his political constituents hold what they want or have hostage if they don't support him?  he ought to write a how to book for his party seeing as how his admin has been closed mouth about his involvement.
http://www.businessinsider.com/civil-war-in-the-republican-party-2012-9

Beohner sacking up is kinda like a oxymoron given how every time he and Pres. worked out something he had to go back to the gangster faction of the party (the tea people) to get slapped down, so many tears so little progress.  this is why it's so important not to let the opposition define so something Pres. failed at miserably and his admin seasoned politicians did nothing to pull his coat, but his remarkable achievements were virtually all his when your own party won't support you doesn't mean you are wrong just that they bought into the republican rhetoric and ran with their tails between their legs, all of whom are now staying home themselves.

Republicans Move To Gut Social Security Benefits on Their First Day in Power

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/07/1356086/-Republicans-Move-To-Gut-Social-Security-Benefits-on-Their-First-Day-in-Power?detail=email
Dear Americans: this is what you got when you skipped out on voting last November:
Republican opponents of Social Security have not wasted even a single day in their plan to dismantle Social Security brick by brick. What should be a dry, mundane exercise -- the adoption of new rules by the newly convening House of Representatives -- has turned into a stealth attack on America's working families.
As one of their first orders of business, the House Republicans approved a rule preventing routine reallocation of Social Security funds to those men, women and children who receive Social Security Disability, unless such a reallocation is accompanied by either benefit cuts or tax increases:
The House on Tuesday passed legislation laying out parliamentary rules for the year. The bill included a little-noticed provision blocking Congress from shifting funds to prevent a 2016 shortfall in Social Security's disability insurance program.
The Social Security Administration's actuaries have projected that the disability insurance program's trust fund will run out of money next year, resulting in a 20 percent benefit reduction for nearly 11 million Americans.
Because the Republicans will never agree to raise taxes (specifically on high-income earners or corporations), what that does is set the stage for benefit cuts in the coming two years. Because the disability trust fund is set to run dry next year, allowing the program to collect payroll taxes sufficient to pay only about 80% of benefits. In real-world terms, that means those eleven million people who receive SS Disability will likely see their benefits cut as much as 20% by the Republican Party.
Such reallocations are part of the normal course of administering the Social Security Trust fund and have occurred eleven times since 1968.  There is nothing "unusual" about the reallocation procedure.  What is unusual is a Congress occupied by fanatics who couldn't care less about the needs of ordinary Americans:
Reallocating the income, however, would keep both the old-age and disability programs solvent until at least 2033, giving Congress plenty of time to assess the programs' needs and work out a long-term fix.
i really would like to see the stats 6 months from now on who thinks staying home was a great idea for those who are of that mind the only thing the rest of us get is the satisfaction that what befalls us hits them in the head too.  the fact that so few can inflict so much grief on so many is a indicator this is not the greatest country or system in the world not even the greatest within it's own borders thanks to the right wing and republican party of stupid again i ask who does the stupid refer to??

Republicans Have a Veto-Proof Math Problem

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-01-09/republicans-have-a-vetoproof-math-problem?cmpid=yhoo

Behold Washington's new math.
The first anti-Obamacare bill of the new Congress, the Save American Workers Act of 2015, was written to undo the part of the law that defines "full employment" as holding a job for as little as 30 hours per week. It passed, and on the way, it became even more partisan in color than the 2014 version of the bill. In the last Congress, 18 Democrats voted with every Republican to pass the bill, but Thursday only 12 did, including all but one of the 2014 supporters (not Georgia Rep. Sanford Bishop) and two new Blue Dogs (Florida Rep. Gwen Graham, Nebraska Rep. Brad Ashford).
By turning on the bill, the Democrats made clear that they would sustain the veto already promised by President Obama, and, yes, they have the votes to do so. If every member of the 114th House of Representatives shows up for a vote, 48 Democrats need to join every Republican to override a veto. Three times this week, when the GOP brought forward bills to approve the Keystone pipeline and delay part of the Volcker Rule, the Democrats denied them all but a handful of votes.
what we are seeing here is another instance where republicans leap before looking, Beohner always cowered on bring bills to the floor unless he had the votes to support their side in other words if we can't win nobody wins.  by not doing the math and confirming those who would vote against Americans they find themselves now in the position of old will Beohener bring it knowing it's a bust and waste of taxpayer money or will he just talk more smack selling wolf tickets is no way to govern and those that stayed home is not a confirmation of their being qualified to run the government but a stupid move that was akin to turning backs on the one that is qualified. recognize 2016 is coming faster than you think.

Just as interesting as the Republican math problem were the arguments Democrats used to hold back their votes. In its veto message, the White House said the 30-hour work week bill "would significantly increase the deficit" and cited 2014 numbers from the Congressional Budget Office to say it would "increase the budget deficit by $45.7 billion over the 2015 to 2024 period." In the Senate yesterday, in a conversation with reporters, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin repeatedly mocked Republicans for offering changes to the ACA without offering up the mechanisms to pay for them.
"I’m just not going to buy the premise Republicans now want to sell, that deficits don’t count," Durbin said. "Since they’re in the majority, they’re going to use dynamic scoring—time for the laugh track!—they’re going to use dynamic scoring to prove that they can cut any tax without an impact on the deficit. That doesn’t work. That’s why we’ve stopped short of repealing the medical device tax, because the payfor has never been explained."
Of course, the Democrats had a terrible election—no news there—and in the process they watched Republicans leap ahead of them in voter trust on key issues. Republicans pulled into a tie on health care, which had always been a Democratic advantage, and they built huge leads on taxes, the economy, and the deficit. Yet in the months after the election, they watched President Obama's approval rating tick up, and saw a dynamite series of jobs reports followed by 5 percent GDP growth in the final quarter.
this is all not really surprising looking back at what this Pres. has had to overcome from republicans and still prevailed their mess took longer to clean up simply because they did nothing to help instead chose to impede and still got "OUT BAMA'D" at every turn good does prevail over evil but much faster when we all participate note for 2016.

Every other developed nation is more pro-family than the U.S. when it comes to this

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/01/1350170/-Every-other-developed-nation-is-more-pro-family-than-the-U-S-when-it-comes-to-this?detail=email

Shows weeks of paid maternity leave guaranteed in more than 30 countries (mostly OECD), with the US the only one with no paid leave guaranteed.

This is ... embarrassing, on an international level. But at the level of American lives, it's awful and sad. It's a sign of our lawmakers'—lawmakers of one party in particular—contempt for working women and for families. The United States is uniquely bad among developed nations:
Compared to other rich nations in the OECD group, America’s outlier status is stark: the UK guarantees 39 weeks of paid leave for mothers, two of which are mandatory. Australia offers 18 weeks. And Mexico, the US’s neighbor to the south, gives mothers 12 weeks of paid leave, reimbursed at 100 percent of their salary. [...]
In the US, paid parental leave is considered a benefit provided by employers. Yet, only 12 percent of workers reported having such coverage in 2013, according to an estimate from the Bureau of Labor Statistics National Compensation Survey.
That means many parents—which, realistically, means mothers—are forced to choose between giving up income or finding, and paying for, child care starting when their children are teeny tiny babies. It's a terrible choice that comes directly out of terrible policymaking, and it's consistent with America's failure to guarantee paid sick leave, to raise the minimum wage to a living wage, and so many other policies that would help workers and that are common among peer countries. And Republicans, of course, are committed to keeping it this way.
note all the above are thing Pres. has worked toward and republicans have railed against yet they still tell us these very same things are what they care about and will pursue it's two faced bald faced lying, try and remember if you actually heard any republican say any more than the words of the idea and entered into the "we got a plan" stage, no because again what they accuse ;Pres. of being planless is what exactly is their problem.  listen close all they claim interest in and will do is everything Pres. said first they have nothing new but try to sell his plans as theirs but can't elaborate because all they have is his plan but they don't have the path to get there.

they criticized everything he was doing for us calling them failures before implemented and still referring to them as failures after they've proven winning strategies, i know some are not feeling the joy but you have republicans to blame for that.  Keystone 41,000 temp jobs 35 permanent instead of Pres.'s jobs bill employing millions we don't see a drop of that filthy ooze but note the 41,000 figure is recent they had to abandon the old argument because they knew it was not for us but for Canada and oil billionaires like Koch's, we get nothing from this except the living in fear of leaking which it is proven it does.  also republicans are not on your side you get no cut but you do get to worry yourself God forbid not to death by Keystone.  get richer scam and we are the marks

NAACP Legal Defense Fund files a potential game changer in the case against Darren Wilson

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/06/1355899/-NAACP-Legal-Defense-Fund-files-a-potential-game-changer?detail=email

Sherrilyn Ifill

At a time when most people have given up on any semblance of justice for slain Ferguson teenager Mike Brown, Sherrilyn Ifill and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund have made what may be the biggest game changing request in the case yet.
According to Missouri law, a Missouri Circuit Court Judge has the power to appoint a Special Prosecutor in any case in which a citizen has not yet been indicted and prosecutorial misconduct is alleged. The judge with jurisdiction in the case against former Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson is Maura McShane.
The NAACP Legal Defense Fund, in their open letter to McShane, makes an extremely compelling case for misconduct by St. Louis Prosecutor Bob McCullough and his staff. In the nine-page letter, Ifill and the NAACP LDF thoroughly detail three instances of misconduct. One is enough to appoint a special prosecutor.
In summary the letter details the following:
1. How prosecutors violated Missouri law and professional ethics for calling a witness they've since admitted they knew did not witness the shooting and was not at the scene. They not only called her once, but twice, and encouraged her to bring physical evidence on her second visit. This witness, Sandy McElroy, perjured herself over 100 times.
2. Prosecutors consistently made documented mistakes in the essential instructions they gave to the grand jurors. MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell masterfully details one such mistake here.
3. Legal analysts and now an actual member of the grand jury felt strongly that Bob McCulloch and his team acted as de facto defense attorneys for Darren Wilson and that it often appeared as if Mike Brown was on trial instead of Darren Wilson.

the change has not stopped evolving the other side have made coded pleas to stop demonstrations and protest while refusing to right a wrong that their top prosecutor has admitted to violating the law he's there to protect and seek out no matter who it is that is charged, this is designed to start us walking away from what they have presented as a useless attempt to attain justice the audacity of arrogance is what will be their Waterloo.

i foresee Wilson leaving the country leaving the stain of racism on Ferguson from now on the question is do these self righteous citizens that orchestrated the grand jury hoax and those they really represent want that mark of Cain on the signs coming into their happy little town of justice for some and ...................for the majority residents who just happen to be without a voice when it comes to civil rights?

First planned Republican Obamacare vote: Taking insurance away from 1.5 million workers

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/06/1355875/-First-planned-Republican-Obamacare-vote-Taking-insurance-away-from-1-5-million-nbsp-workers?detail=email

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell turns to Sen. John Cornyn, R-TX after speaking to reporters after the Republican party policy luncheon in the Capitol in Washington September 16, 2014.  At left is Sen. John Barasso, R-WY. The U.S. House of Represe

The Republican Obamacare repeal assault will begin this week, when both chambers are expected to vote to exploit workers and take employer-sponsored insurance away from as many as 1.5 million people. What Republicans say they are doing is restoring full-time work, what they're really doing is giving incentive to employers to make people work an almost 40-week without health insurance benefits. The employer mandate in Obamacare kicks in this year. It requires companies that have 50 or more employees either provide insurance to 95 percent of their full-time employees or pay a fine, and defines full-time work as 30 hours per week. Republicans want to change that definition to 40 hours.
"I call this the 'send people home a half hour early on Friday and deny them health insurance' bill," says Tim Jost, a health care law scholar at the Washington and Lee University School of Law who has consulted with the Obama administration on implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that it would mean half a million people losing insurance immediately, and the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that it would force one million onto Medicaid—increasing the federal deficit by $73.7 billion over 10 years. That's just one reason some on the right don't like this idea.
okay let's stop here, we hear way to little about those that get the insurance rug yanked out from under them by the republican congress, nor do we hear about the cost of doing such a despicable thing to those who only get to smell affordable care before the right wing stink permeates the air that they will soon set about deregulating in favor of smoke stacks oil and contaminated soil which brings us to what really is in or on your food?  don't forget they tried to take this from you 56 times and now they think 57 or 67 more will do the trick.
Writing this weekend in National Review, Yuval Levin, a conservative popular with House Republicans, said the legislation "seems likely to be worse than doing nothing." His rationale is that there are many more people who work 40 hours a week than just over 30, and that it would be easier for an employer to cut their hours to 39 a week to avoid offering them insurance than to 29.
House Republicans previously tried to force this legislative change through a spending bill, but the Democratic-controlled Senate stripped it. They could do it again this year, passing it with a Republican Senate. That could force President Obama's hand, if a potential government shut-down was at stake. But that's if this change is enough for the tea party contingent in congress which is still spoiling for full repeal.
Pres. and his family like those who oppose you having it to a good insurance plan have one safe and secure so hurting Pres. or making him look bad, boy are they in for a rude awakening on which way is up.  folks don't you see the grand puddle of elephant dung we are going to be wading in, midterm stay home was the worst decision made since forever and until we do something to straighten the crooked nails we put in our own coffins welcome to 2015 through infinity or next year if you care.

those sad looks on that picture got to believe a fake photo opt they know what they will do will devastate American families but they are going to give it the old GOP go (greed over people), we got nothing coming from this party, those who cry about Obama will you cry about the republicans who intend to give you nothing but directions on who to further advance their agenda and ground spike yours. recognize

So the NYPD stopped working and nobody noticed

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/06/1355866/-So-the-NYPD-stopped-working-and-nobody-noticed?detail=email

A funny thing happened here in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Apparently this was supposed to be ground zero of the NYPD work stoppage. No arrests. No tickets. No nothing. Just police bunkered in behind the walls of the 79th and 81st Precincts, both of which now have armed SWAT types guarding the gates from imminent invasion.
So the funny thing is life has gone on pretty much normally. Nothing much is going on. Streets are quiet.  All hell has not broken loose. Folks are going about their days normally. If policing has stopped, nobody seems to be noticing. We're told all 911 calls are being responded to and handled normally, it's just the police aren't actively pushing folks around.
Which brings us to a rather enlightening discovery: perhaps the NYPD could continue this style of policing with a lot less resources and manpower! Why have a bunch of bums sitting around doing nothing on the taxpayer's dime? Especially when crime is still under control and falling. Especially when the work stoppage has had no effect on the community whatsoever, except perhaps making everyone, including the NYPD, relax.
Mayor de Blasio should applaud the NYPD for demonstrating how much they need a lot less people to keep crime low and preserve order. Then, start laying people off and giving the slimmed-down remaining force a well-deserved raise.
Way to go, NYPD!
whoa, evidently they had an Epiphany they came to realize their breath stinks in to morning too, who knew?  with all the Buster Bad Azz crap and strong arm and killing of unarmed American citizens they find that maybe just maybe they can take a hike while we repeal and replace them with officers who honor their pledge to protect and serve and won't beat the hell out of women and murder men and go for drinks at the "Rogue Cop" bar and strip joint and high five whoever the killer de jour is, it's a tradition slap on the back and paid vacation if you kill exoneration and back to those mean streets makes you wonder who is really making those streets mean???

you have to wonder like Jimmy Hoffa, Rodger Rabbit, who killed Officer Friendly?

Scathing NYT Editorial on the NYPD

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/06/1356032/-Scathing-NYT-Editorial-on-the-NYPD?detail=email

Mayor Bill de Blasio has been in office barely a year, and already forces of entropy are roaming the streets, turning their backs on the law, defying civil authority and trying to unravel the social fabric.
So begins the brilliantly ironical NYT op-ed of today regarding the NY Petulance Department.  Or as the NYT characterizes it the Dept. of "sullen insubordination."
No, not squeegee-men or turnstile-jumpers. We’re talking about the cops.
http://www.nytimes.com/...And they end ballsy:
If the Police Department’s current commanders cannot get the cops to do their jobs, Mr. de Blasio should consider replacing them.  He should invite the Justice Department to determine if the police are guilty of civil rights violations in withdrawing policing from minority communities.  He should remind the police that they are public employees, under oath to uphold city and state laws.

spot on, these guys have gone to far years ago now that the free ride is coming to an end they try to hostage our security, reminds me of Cheyney/Bush admin telling us only they can protect us and keep us safe from Islamic Muslims and sharia law and if we don't allow them to invade Iraq they can't be responsible.  the police are saying we can't question their tactics because they are protecting us against Black menaces, you know like you buying a cigarette on the corner from the Black big scary criminal who made .75 cents at best per cigarette

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/07/opinion/l07loosies.html?_r=0

they've blamed cigarette taxes and everything else on Eric Garners killing except those cops who actually did kill him.  each and every death at the hands of cops lately is not the fault of the one who ended to life but any and everything else, how do you trust and respect those who would do that and ignore and decry their boss when they call out them with truth and reality that in itself is denying the truth and by default lying about it's existence.

Louie Gohmert Announces Challenge To Speaker Boehner

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/gohmert-challenge-boehner-speaker

Q8klqky5qyllemkkmc87

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Sunday said that he would challenge House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) for the top spot in House GOP leadership.
"We have heard from a lot of Republicans that said, 'I would vote for somebody besides speaker Boehner.' But nobody will put their name out there,” Gohmert said on "Fox and Friends." "That changed yesterday with Ted Yoho."
According to Gohmert, the voters made it clear in 2014 that they want leadership changes.
"There have been numerous examples of problematic Republican leadership, but we were hopeful our leaders got the voters’ message," he said. "However, after our speaker forced through the CRomnibus by passing it with Democratic votes and without time to read it, it seemed clear that we needed new leadership. There had been much discussion."
Later on Sunday, Gohmert issued a statement announcing his intention to run for speaker and explaining that he was inspired to run when his colleague Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) decided to run for speaker.
Gohmert assured that a crowded GOP field for speaker would not hurt the Republican party.
"There is false information being floated that any Republican candidates in addition to the current Speaker will split the vote and give the Speaker's gavel to Congresswoman Pelosi. This is nothing but a scare tactic to keep the current regime in power," he said in the statement. "As long as Republicans vote for an adult American citizen for Speaker, no Democrat can win."
ok we've all heard the rambling rhetoric Gohmert is famous for but in case you forgot or don't remember here's a reminder you make a determination if this guy is qualified for anything other than comic relief and those funny face pictures he seems to get caught in.  will they have a clown car of contestants lined up for speaker like the had for 2012 presidential  primary?

National Organization for Marriage and its comically brave face

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/04/1355067/-National-Organization-for-Marriage-and-its-comically-brave-face

Brian Brown, president of National Organization for Marriage, addresses supporters of a traditional marriage rally at Utah's State Capitol building in Salt Lake City, Utah January 28, 2014.  Utah temporarily became the 18th U.S. state to legalize same-sex

To say that the National Organization for Marriage had a low-down, dirty rotten year is a seriously gross understatement. At nearly every turn, their demented efforts to throw up roadblocks against marriage equality have been soundly thwacked. Yet that hasn't stopped their president, Brian Brown, from insisting that 2014 was a swell year for them and they are positioned very well for 2015.
It is always good at the end of a year to take a look back and reflect on some of the highlights. There has been a lot of movement in the battle over the definition of marriage this past year, and it seems like every one of the 52 weeks of 2014 brought another development—some good, some bad.
Indeed, it did seem like every one of the 52 weeks of 2014 brought another development. However, for NOM, it was mostly bad. Very bad. Ignoring all that bad, Brian Brown recapped NOM's five most read stories of 2014 in a truly pathetic effort to look like winners to their rapidly dwindling base of supporters.
brave faced or bald face i'm going with the latter, the world is changing we are changing look back at last 6 years with all the obstruction from you local ignorant right wing republican rhetoric to SCOTUS decisions  Americans are losing the separative bigoted ways of old used to divide and conquer by republicans which they proceeded to try and pin that tale on the donkey, Americans they positioned on the back burner are now hanging on the oven door handle up front and in their faces.  putting another human being into a box puts you in one as swell except yours has a scarlet "B"  on it for bigot.

are they so paranoid and insecure in their own relationships that they think they finally found a collective reason that is not their fault blaming others for your failures only puts four failings in focus.

Tony Perkins: Pro-Gay Christians Are Not 'Real Christians'; Only Conservative Christians Are.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/05/09/1297894/-Tony-Perkins-Pro-Gay-Christians-Are-Not-Real-Christians-Only-Conservative-Christians-Are

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council implied yesterday that pro-gay Christians are not 'real Christians' and are not protected by the First Amendment to the US Constitution as are conservative Christians.
From Right Wing Watch:  Caller: I wanted to see if I can get your response to the members of the clergy in Charlotte that are suing for the right to perform gay marriages, saying that the ban on gay marriage infringes on their religious rights. It’s my understanding that they are a Christian organization, it’s normally the other way around, and so I’m curious to hear what you got to say about it.
Perkins: I would use that term ‘Christian’ loosely. That title is — let’s talk biblical, here’s the deal, it’s like with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that we worked on in Mississippi and failed in Arizona and other places, here’s a test of what is a true religious freedom, a freedom that’s based on orthodox religious viewpoints. It has to have a track record, it has to come forth from religious orthodoxy.
You cannot point to the Christian faith and say that same-sex marriage has been a key teaching of the church. You can only point to the opposite, that the church has stood against sexual immorality in terms of sexual relations of those outside of marriage and in particular homosexual behavior. There is no place, there is nothing for them to stand on and say that same-sex marriage has standing in the orthodox Christian faith.
They’re playing games here, trying to turn the effort that so many Americans are now faced with of preserving religious freedom, they’re now trying to do a jujitsu move and say, ‘We’re going to use religious freedom to say we have a right to do same-sex marriage.’ Well, there is no foundation for that, there is no orthodox Christian holding that has ever said marriage is between people of the same sex.
republicans with their comrades evangelicals  have created a new anti religion right under the noses of the faithfuls they take advantage of by using their re-writes to demean Americans not like them or are they being zoomed within their own ranks with gay  and lesbians as well as their congregation how many closets are hiding their members or them.  i don't see how devout so called Christians can embrace the teachings that don't correspond to the Bible, it becomes a question of who do these faithfuls worship a God they apparently by actions disavow or a Elmer Gantry type selling hate, bigotry and racism.  remember not all bigots are racist but all racist are bigots.

if they believe what their being told shouldn't they worry about after death because when it comes down to it doesn't matter what you believe you too will be dead and stinking question is where, which way is up??

Fox News Is OFF the Air and the Foul Odor of Deception has Ceased

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/03/1355341/-Fox-News-Is-OFF-the-Air-and-the-Foul-Odor-of-Deception-has-Ceased

The demagogues have taken a break over at Fox News due to not wanting to pay to spread their hate and I hope for the sake of truth this remains a reality. Truth? A word Fox News has rendered useless. Fox News gives the haters what they yearn for... Lies, Distortions and Hate.
Fox News the most trusted source for bigotry and hate.

Fox News Ratings Plummet As Dish Network Proves Ideological Bullying Doesn't Buy Air Time
The folks over at Fox News had hoped to bully Dish Network into giving their toxic channel the cheap air time it demands, but going into a second week of being banished from the television lineup is only proving that Dish has more clout.
Because Fox News has played the victim instead of offering a fair price to for its weak programming, Dish dropped the conservative propaganda channel, including Fox Business, much to the delight of Americans who value their brains.
Of course, this made Fox News go ballistic and conservative heads everywhere begin to explode. Fox even urged their viewers to declare war on Dish Network, telling them to drop their subscriptions in an effort to force Dish’s hand. According to Dish Network CEO Charlie Ergen, Fox is the first channel to throw such a temper tantrum.
“Ironically, Fox News would be the first network to decry this kind of deal-making,” Ergen said. “There’s nothing about this extortion attempt that was fair or balanced.”
Earlier in the year, Dish Network had dropped Cartoon Network and a host of other channels during negotiations with Turner Broadcasting. But both sides worked for an agreement and the channels were restored. Fox, however, chose to wage ideological warfare rather than negotiate in good faith.
this is a good thing for Americans who they choose to concentrate on if they use Dish they will be subjected to other points of view and truths that rebuke almost all they have heard on Fox, this could very well be an enlightening period for those who only used one source of reporting and were always half cocked by misleading misinformation.  some will leave Dish or plug up the old rabbit ears to continue their addiction fix others hopefully will embark on a new journey and a new way of seeing those who have misled them for decades.
G W Bush, "you can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on",  lets hope more learn to think for themselves and not take a lead that is always immersed in hate and radical ideals  you know those "PRINCIPLES" formerly known as "VALUES".

Pittsburgh Police Chief: #End White Silence; A Good Cop Speaks Out

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/01/03/1355342/-Pittsburgh-Police-Chief-End-White-Silence-A-Good-Cop-Speaks-Out#

A picture is worth a thousand words.

A Pittsburgh group fighting for equality (@FightBackPGH) posted a photograph on Twitter of Pittsburgh Police Chief Cameron McLay holding one of the group’s banners, a poster that stated, “I resolve to challenge racism @ work #EndWhiteSilence.”
Now the Chief is under fire for threatening the Blue Wall of Silence.
Pittsburgh Police Chief Under Fire For Controversial Photo, Union Says Calls Department Racists
January 2, 2015 6:35 PM
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh’s Police Chief is under fire for a controversial photo that is making its rounds on Facebook, and some are saying the Chief called his entire department racist.
FOP President Howard McQuillan told KDKA’s Marty Griffin: “The chief is calling us racists. He believes the Pittsburgh Police Department is racist. This has angered a lot of officers.”
Police Chief Cameron McLay released the following statement about the allegations:
“I was hired to restore the legitimacy of the police department. I did not seek these young activists out. I was stopping for coffee at First Night. Their message is not anti-anybody. It is simply a call for awareness. The photo was a great, spontaneous moment in time. Please join dialogue for community healing.”
However Kevin Acklin, the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, tells Ralph Iannotti, the mayor continues to support Chief McLay unequivocally in his efforts to improve dialogue between police and the community at large.
One of the good cops is trying to stand up and do the Right Thing. Let's show the Chief some love.  Contact Information for Pittsburgh's Mayor is below the Orange Cloud.
this is a good gesture i hope he is sincere, but like republicans they can talk reconciliation and reaching out but he is as they are one of a major party of many who don't hold the same sentiments. cops on the street are sounding more and more like they are literally in charge their rhetoric has overtones of intimidation and anarchy, are they of a mind that they hold our fate in their hands and they have the choice to protect and serve or go rogue and create their own police state?

states need to stop settling on law enforcement because it doesn't affect them for now anyway but next year, month, week or tomorrow who knows remember "power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely" that means everyone is fair game those who get it can never have enough.

MON JAN 09, 2012 AT 01:57 PM PST An open letter to the people who hate Obama more than they love America

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/01/09/1053088/-An-open-letter-to-the-people-who-hate-Obama-more-than-they-love-America?detail=email?detail=email#

i ran across this old article don't remember seeing it then but as i read it i noticed it's still relevant and true today, tomorrow and only God knows how far into our future.  it took awhile to get through it you know my vision challenges, but for those who seek or just need more clarification of what the 2014 midterm has given us at least for the next two years.  those who oppose and wave flags for these fellow haters it allows you to take a stroll through your mind,  can you handle it?
