A 9-year-old girl in Florida was shot in the arm as she was leaving church just after midnight on Friday, according to local media reports.
Police do not believe the girl was targeted, but instead was struck by celebratory gunfire to ring in the new year, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The girl was treated by the Orlando Fire Department. She is expected to recover, according to Fox 35 Orlando.
Police were not able to find the bullet and say they have little hope of finding the suspect because of the “voluminous amounts of gunfire” happening at the time.
i am happy to report where i live has a reputation not so much deserved in last few years but very few of these so called celebratory gunfire for ringing in the New Year. this incident just goes to show guns are making it unsafe no matter where you are. some states allow them to be carried in churches.
