A woman in Portland, Oregon is causing quite a stir after showing up at an anti-abortion Planned Parenthood protest, shouting out the words: “YEAST INFECTIONS!” Apparently, several minutes of this is all it took to completely scare away protesters who had stood outside the clinic trying to disrupt its activities.
The 29-year-old cat lover and copywriter by trade thought of the idea after several previous failed attempts in the past.
In an interview with Buzzfeed News, Mary explained the idea made sense, because Planned Parenthood provides many services besides just abortion. For her, it’s an organization that has helped her personally in the past – including the treatment of UTI’s and yes, yeast infections. In addition to this, they also provided her first birth-control pills.
“Planned Parenthood is vital resource for so many people. We have to look beyond the pro-life/pro-choice debate and recognize this organization is out there providing some of the most important care to our sensitive medical needs.”
When she first began shouting her “yeasty cries” they tried to move further and further down the sidewalk to get away from her, so she just kept getting closer.
“Initially they had spread down the sidewalks on both sides of the street, but after some yelling and high kicks on my part, they huddled together.”
“They glared at my princess wave and cheerleader enthusiasm, and they began a prayer circle. This is when I really shined. I have never made my voice louder.”
Eventually, they just couldn’t take it anymore and quit, while shaking their heads in defeat.
there is something about simplicity being an answer that few look to because of just that it's perceived as too simple. but for these protester to be beat down so to speak by just one person and two words speaks to their commitment to objecting to PP or were they just obscure bandwagon riders that relinquished to a reality or did the simplicity of her statement allow them to take a moment and understand it well enough ????????
