A member of the Party of ‘No’ is saying yes to President Obama’s Clean Power Plan, making Hell cold as the rest of the world deals with rising temperatures.
In 2010, Kelly Ayotte rode into the Senate during the Tea Party wave and has contributed ever since to the effort to oppose President Obama at all costs.
But now the New Hampshire Republican is up for re-election in 2016, and perhaps sensing that her ouster is imminent, Ayotte is trying to appeal to liberal voters by crossing party lines to become one of the few conservatives who support enacting a major climate change initiative proposed by President Obama.
Indeed, Ayotte has very little to run on. Her record of opposing progress at nearly every turn while being a staunch war hawk certainly won’t appeal to voters at home, especially since Tea Party popularity has never been lower than it is now and she faces re-election during a national election.
As Democratic voters flock to the polls next year, they are very unlikely to pick Ayotte to continue embarrassing New Hampshire and will instead vote for current Governor Maggie Hassan to replace her.
Nevertheless, Ayotte has thrown her support behind the Clean Power Plan, which aims to reduce carbon emission across the country in an effort to slow or reverse climate change and protect the environment, which includes the air we breathe.
“It’s so important that we protect New Hampshire’s beautiful environment for our economy and for our future,” Ayotte wrote in a press release of her support for the measure.
“After carefully reviewing this plan and talking with members of our business community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders, I have decided to support the Clean Power Plan to address climate change through clean energy solutions that will protect our environment. New Hampshire is already well on its way to meet the goals of the Clean Power Plan through positive steps it has already taken. I will carefully monitor implementation of the plan to make sure there is sufficient flexibility for New Hampshire to meet its goals and that the plan does not have an adverse impact on Granite State energy costs.”
And thus, even though it’s nice that Ayotte is doing something right for once, she has become just another Republican who decided to do the right thing because she faces a tough re-election effort next year as voters finally get the chance to oust the extreme conservatives who have caused all the Senate gridlock these past six years.i watched this women she was right there beside her colleagues with every hateful selfish war on women act and the voter suppression laws and supported everything her party stands for. as you saw in last paragraph it's an act of necessary desperation they talk good get your vote than it's off on the republican tirade she is republican which in mt book relieves her of any chance to be a real senator for her constituents not for the party.
they like to say "that's not what the people sent us here for", correct party line agenda was not what you got votes for it was the sweet sour promises of repealing all things Obama if the base looked back that was the only thing they promised the other stuff just campaign rhetoric never meant to be implemented. to day we here their pundits and host talking about their failure to deliver on promises like those jobs from 2010.
now her playing politician is about to time out she's for the things she and all know are what the people really want you can feel the breeze created by her 180 degree turn, this also speaks to the loss of power by the tea people not as big a threat as they would like people going against the party revealing truths of agenda and demeaning their relevance oh and Grover Norquist too.
