Poor Trey Gowdy (not really). After 11 hours of grilling Hillary Clinton about Benghazi, he was forced to admit he learned exactly nothing.
The sad part of that statement is that it summarizes just how bad this interminable hearing was for Republicans. Like the Planned Parenthood fiasco, they tried and tried to dig for something that wasn't there and came up with dried cat poop instead.
Some of the reactions from conservatives tell the story:
Washington Examiner columnist Byron York, disappointed the hearing had been "billed as an epic, High Noon-style confrontation," concluded the day was "a bust."
"In other words, no big deal. And that is very, very good news for Hillary Clinton," York wrote.
Right-wing radio host Erick Erickson wrote that the hearing "was all a political spectacle" and "a waste of time."
"God bless Trey Gowdy for trying to learn the facts and understand what happened. But the rest of it was just a carnival road show of back bench congresscritters playing to the cameras and Hillary Clinton working hard to play persecuted victim," Erickson wrote.have you noticed that republicans have gone so far right that those on the far right are running back to center and telling the truth about this vaudeville act by their party members denying on the left hand and lying on the right one are they so dense they don't see what they are doing to themselves and those that do are not just leaving but railing against their tactics.
it's really weird to hear those known right wing zealots calling out their own especially after being part of the chorus that has sought to destroy the Dems and all they have done for the people do they also recognize they are demeaning those who need the social nets by saying they only vote Dem for the free stuff that is a slam and gives the impression of shallowness. but you never hear them say the billionaires support them for the paid things they try to put into law for them which is most egregious feeding the poor and giving healthcare or selling the gov't to the highest bidder???????
