Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced she will challenge Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in 2014, ending months of speculation about whether Democrats could deliver a top recruit for that targeted race.

“I have met with my supporters, we have had a great conversation, and determined and decided that we can next make the best move, the best difference in the commonwealth of Kentucky, by running for the U.S. Senate,” Grimes said at a Monday event in Kentucky.

National Democrats had laid all their hopes with Grimes’ bid since March, when actress Ashley Judd announced she wouldn’t run against McConnell. A top fundraiser and brutal campaigner, McConnell is a top target for Democrats this cycle.

 Just days before her announcement, a Republican super PAC started to air advertisements attacking Grimes. The spots linked Grimes to President Barack Obama, who remains deeply unpopular in the Bluegrass State.

and the games begin, they waste no time in trying to muddy up any opponent that they think has a chance the bigger the chance the dirtier the mud. he has done 28 years of the same thing, i know someone who lives in kentucky they are not rich and find nothing he's done representative of the people, time to punch the clock.

McConnell boasts an impressive war chest, and his campaign reported $8.6 million in the bank earlier this year. That number will likely change in the next two weeks, when the Republicanannounces his fundraising haul for the second quarter of this year.

Grimes said she is not worried about coming into the race as an underdog.

“I agree with thousands of Kentuckians that Kentucky is tired of 28 years of obstruction; that Kentucky is tired of someone who has voted against raising the minimum wage while all the while quadrupling his own net worth.

with the Kentuckians who are not accepting of right wing values this ought to be a breath of air to come, finally someone that cares about them, those who oppose will also come to understand especially the ones who are not rich that they have done nothing for them i have said in the last 4 1/.2 years but actually what have they done for them in the last 12 1/2 years, Bush was no buddy he was some sat Cheyney's biatch.

Former vice presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been a vocal critic of Republicans, Democrats, and President Obama alike on immigration reform, denouncing efforts to create a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented workers — despite her previous support for just such a pathway.

Palin’s switch from supporter of a citizenship pathway for the 11 million undocumented workers to ardent opponent has been on full display in recent days and weeks.

“A matter of a lack principle and respect for the rule of law,” Palin said about Republicans supporting immigration reform Saturday on Fox News. “This was an absolute betrayal of working-class Americans who do respect the rule of law and legal immigrants who have come here and stood in line, and paid their dues if you will, and become new Americans.”

“It’s an absolute betrayal of the will of the people and the rule of the law,” she added.

“You’ve just abandoned the Reagan Democrats with this amnesty bill,” Palin recently wrote on her Facebook page. “You disrespect Hispanics with your assumption that they desire ignoring the rule of law.”

“Hope it was worth 30 pieces of silver,” she said of Marco Rubio of getting a call from Obama. (Rubio wasn’t available, so never spoke to Obama.)

Fox knows the rhetoric she speaks is misplaced wrong and self invented, but that fits right in with public opinion of them, which means they don't care if they did they would try hiring people not from a carnival sideshow.

No one disputes Republicans used the once-a-decade redistricting process to lock in their House majority — almost certainly through 2014 and possibly until the next round of line-drawing in 2020.

But the party could pay a steep price for that dominance.

Some top GOP strategists and candidates warn that the ruby red districts the party drew itself into are pushing House Republicans further to the right — narrowing the party’s appeal at a time when some GOP leaders say its future rests on the opposite happening.

The shellacking Republicans took in 2012 has triggered months of consternation that the party is too white, too conservative and too male. But tell that to the increasing number of House Republicans who are safely ensconced with nary a worry that a Democrat might unseat them in the next election.

The bigger threat to them is a primary challenge from the right bankrolled by the Club for Growth or another deep-pocketed outside group angry they went soft on a key vote.

Sarah Palin, once again on the national stage. This time, on Fox News she responded to a tweet from “Josh” who asked her:

Would you & Mark Levin be willing to build a ‘Freedom Party’ if GOP continues to ignore conservatives?

Sarah’s answer was simple, and straight to the point:

love the name of that party — the ‘Freedom Party.’ And if the GOP continues to back away from the planks in our platform, from the principles that built this party of Lincoln and Reagan, then yeah, more and more of us are going to start saying, ‘You know, what’s wrong with being independent,’ kind of with that libertarian streak that much of us have. 

In other words, we want government to back off and not infringe upon our rights. I think there will be a lot of us who start saying ‘GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted in a one or the other private majority parties that rule in our nation, either a Democrat or a Republican.’ Remember these are private parties, and you know, no one forces us to be enlisted in either party.

What is cute, of course, is that there already is a Freedom Party in the United States, the American Freedom Party. And, its posted platform matches the rhetoric given by Ms. Palin. However, it was only recently renamed the American Freedom Party, and before that its name was the American Third Position Party, a white supremacy party with the long-term goal of establishing itself as a new national party.

Now, it is possible that this “Josh” person was unaware of the Freedom Party, nor its white supremacist ways. Or, it is fully possible that he was aware, and was setting up Sarah Palin to be an unwitting recruitment tool for the party, in much the same way in which they used Ron Paul to recruit in years past. They, of course, deny that their position of racial purity and a desire to remove any non-Caucasians from the continent makes them white supremacists. But now they can utilize this incident as a recruitment tool, just as they had Tea Party rallies in the past.

Of course the media jumps on this that Sarah Palin was calling for a split from the GOP. It was an off-the-cuff question, but one which leads us to question her awareness. Was Sarah Palin aware of the Freedom Party, as she does like the name as claimed? If not, how was she not aware of the rampant growth of white supremacy groups across the United States? Then again, she was associated with the Alaska Independence Party, a secessionist movement with ties to white supremacist groups. And do not forget, during Sarah Palin’s second year as Governor, she recorded this message of welcome for the Alaska Independence Party:

Putin: Snowden must stop leaking secrets to stay

MOSCOW (AP) — Russia's President Vladimir Putin said Monday that former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden will have to stop leaking U.S. secrets if he wants to get asylum in Russia, but he believes that Snowden has no intention of doing so.

Putin's statement came hours after Snowden asked for political asylum, according to the Interfax news agency, citing a consular official at the Moscow airport where the leaker has been caught in legal limbo for more than a week.

President Barack Obama said there have been high-level discussions between the U.S. and Russia about Snowden's expulsion, though Putin repeated that Russia will not send Snowden back to the United States.

Putin's stance could reflect a reluctance to shelter Snowden, which would hurt already strained U.S.-Russian ties. At the same time, the Russian leader seemed to keep the door open to allowing him to stay, a move that would follow years of anti-American rhetoric popular with Putin's core support base of industrial workers and state employees.

on the surface it does seem Putin wants to now after he's gotten all he could (IMO) out of Sowden  and may still feel there's more.

Chris Christie Slams Obama, Ending Lovefest

i did not think Christie was a real person i do think all he said prior to this was probably how he felt, but now with competition under foot and T-Party breathing down his neck threatening to primary him gangsta style he reverts back to the right wing politician and joins the gang fight, hope all his constituents are noticing this change from all about you to "well they are my party? even though they slammed him for being the only grownup in the party.

The lovefest between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and President Obama is over, another sign that partisanship is rising again across the board.

Christie got considerable media attention over the weekend for criticizing Obama, whom he had praised during last year's presidential campaign because of the rapid federal response to Superstorm Sandy that decimated the Jersey Shore. Christie was criticized in turn by some fellow Republicans for his positive approach to Obama at a key point in the campaign.

But on Friday, Christie turned negative. He said Obama "can't figure out how to lead,"and was more concerned with ideology than "getting things done." When he was asked about his positive response to Obama after the storm, Christie said he didn't vote for Obama in the November election and added: "I don't want him to be president."

 Christie is seeking re-election as governor this year and is considered a possible GOP presidential candidate in 2016.

It's part of a pattern. Officials in Washington are returning to their partisan ways, too. Political scientist Ross Baker of Rutgers University says "polarization" is still driving American politics at a fundamental level, as it has for years.

Baker points out that the House of Representatives, controlled by Republicans, is unlikely to pass the immigration bill that the Democrat-controlled Senate endorsed last week with much self-congratulation. Few House conservatives are likely to be swayed by the Senate because they have strong objections to some provisions of the Senate bill, such as a "path to citizenship" for many people who entered the United States illegally.

let's entertain that thought for a second, Judas Christie had there been a republican president most likely the jersey coast would still be underwater, now remember he slammed the party about not approving disaster aid and said everything but "i quit the party" which to me sent up a flag and now he confirms that vision.

Alicia Stanley, Trayvon Martin‘s stepmother, sat down last night for an emotional interview withAnderson Cooper. Stanley opened up about the 14 years she spent raising Martin with his father and how it’s been hard for her to watch George Zimmerman‘s trial and hear all the things people have been saying about the night that her son died. She told Cooper that while she is convinced of Zimmerman’s guilt, she does not personally believe that he picked her son out because he was black.

i agree with he didn't pick him out because he was black i like her believe he picked out Trayvon with a stereotypical mindset, then the gravy after following and identifying him as Black for sure.

i also think her statement is ripe for defensive spin, she should have talked with lawyer before giving that interview.

She told Cooper about her relationship with Martin’s father and how he stopped speaking to her at one point.

In the second part of the interview, Cooper asked Stanley if she thinks race was a factor in how Zimmerman singled out Martin. She said she did not believe that was the case.

“No, I really don’t think it was Zimmerman don’t like black people, or he picked him out because he was black. Did he profile him with the hoodie and stuff like that as this thug, whatever, walking, in Zimmerman’s mind? Yes, but to say that he targeted him because he was black? No, I don’t–I don’t think so.”

She became emotional again when talking about losing a child she raised for most of his life, and described how painful it was to not be able to sit in the front row at Martin’s funeral. She told Cooper that it would be “heartbreaking” and “unbelievable” if ZImmerman is found not guilty.

if she raised Trayvon for 14 years and is dismissed as not important enough in his life to get front row status, what did she do, and how reliable is she, is this payback for the frozen shoulder?

A current contestant on Fox’s MasterChefreality program is in hot water for tweeting inflammatory remarks about black people.

A reporter for the Philadelphia Daily Newsunearthed the two now-deleted tweets showingMasterChef contestant Krissi Biasiellomaking some pretty derogatory comments last year.

“[W]hy do the [Philadelphia] 76ers keep coming up in my who to follow,” she asked in the first tweet from 2012. “i HATE basketball. NBA = @!$%#s Bouncing Around,” she explained, punctuated with a “#thatsracist” hashtag. [Tweet image below edited by Daily News reporter.]

In another tweet from July 2012, Biasiello wrote: “Better make sure you’re on top when sleeping with a black guy … Otherwise it’s probably rape.” The tweet links to what seems to be a ChaCha poll on whether you prefer to be on the “top” or “bottom” during sex.

someone should have asked her why she felt the need to say those things?  those that make derogatory statements like that obviously feel safe from retribution or are dumb as a bag of hair, tweet really and how many millions frequent that sight, does she believe them all to be of questionable character like herself?

Biasiello is a 34-year-old paralegal based out of Philadelphia. She is currently placed within the top 11 contestants on this fourth season of MasterChef, a competitive cooking reality program co-hosted by Gordon Ramsay.

Following Molly Eichel’s Daily News report, Biasiello has deleted her account; but her officialMasterChef account remains active.
