Last week, Bishop David D. Kagan of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bismarck, North Dakota told his parishes that they need to sever ties with the Boy Scouts of America because ... gay stuff. He starts with the disappointment of the Supreme Court's decision to allow the gays to marry and then proceeds:
Second, and as expected, the Boy Scouts of America voted to admit openly gay adults into the organization to hold leadership positions. While there are indications that the BSA has a religious organization exception, which each local troop could invoke, that will provide no protection for any of our parishes and/or schools, which sponsor troops.
Thus, effective immediately, the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Bismarck and each and every one of its parishes, schools and other institutions, is formally disaffiliated with and from the Boy Scouts of America. If your parish sponsors a troop, your priest has been asked to inform those persons associated with the BSA of this action and to inform the BSA itself of this decision.
I regret my decision but, in conscience as the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese of Bismarck, I cannot permit our Catholic institutions to accept and participate directly or indirectly in any organization, which has policies and methods, which contradict the authoritative moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
This is unfortunate but not surprising. The Catholic Church really loves telling people about morality. I would suggest that the Bishop of the Diocese of Bismarck worry about protecting the children in his flock from people in the clergy—go here and you can see a listing of the clergy that have been accused and sued and convicted (in some cases) of sexual improprieties. You can first look up the Bismarck Diocese. Then you can look up the Rockford, Illinois Diocese where Bishop David Kagan spent a good amount of his early career.
I'm not calling him a child molester, mind you. He's just spent a lot of time with child molesters.
this really calls for a short and sweet start with the man/men in the mirror and get treated for that pot kettle syndrome who knows how many centuries religions have been afflicted with that which they condemn other for?????????? is religion becoming a "do as i say not as you know i do"?????????????
