Rep. Steve King defended GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump's recent comments on immigration, with the Iowa Republican suggesting as many as three-quarters of young women crossing the southern border into the United States are raped along the way.
Trump lit a firestorm by claiming during his presidential campaign kickoff that illegal immigrants from Mexico are bringing drugs and crime over the border.
King, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, says he's traveled nearly the entire southern border. That includes last summer, during the peak of the flood of undocumented workers traveling through Mexico, when he said he spoke to people taking care of the young women who made the trip.
"I asked them the question — how many of these girls that go into a transfer home, how many of these girls are raped along the way?
"And I asked at place after place, the most consistent answer I got was 75 percent, and I heard Donald Trump say in Winterset, Iowa, a week ago Saturday night, that 80 percent are raped. That’s consistent with what I learned," King told The Hill's Molly K. Hooper.
"So yes, they’re being raped, they’re being murdered, they’re being brutalized, and when I know I’ve been challenged on that, 'well you can’t conclude that (it's) Mexicans or Central Americans that are doing the raping,' well, can you conclude anything else? They are being raped, they are victims of rape, and the price for the transit sometimes is, often is and predominantly is their body," King said.
how about those you interviewed how about those guards that or there and holding those girls how about those in his party that support rape and violence against women, can he account on video for time he spent down there, 80% huh if that many and they kept a record why didn't they do something to stop it either they don't care or it's them doing the raping????

sounds less ridiculous as his assumption that those that are coming across the border presumably from the same place take time out of their schedules to rape the girls from their own cities or towns the girls they see everyday but wait until the cross the border to assault them?????????????
