GOP presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Donald Trump are locked in a virtual tie for the 2016 Republican nomination, according to a Reuters-Ipsos poll released Saturday.
It found that 16.1 percent of self-identified Republicans back Bush, the former governor of Florida.
Trump, a New York business mogul, chases Bush’s lead with 15.8 percent support.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie came in third 9.5 percent of possible voters’ backing.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is next at 8.1 percent, followed by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 7.2 percent.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker – widely expected to enter the 2016 field Monday – earned 5.8 percent.
Republican voters’ response changed dramatically when they offered only three contenders from the party’s crowded 2016 presidential field.
Bush takes a commanding lead when matched against only Trump and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). The former Florida governor nabs 42 percent in that scenario. Trump, meanwhile, gets 28.4 percent and Rubio 20 percent.
we have seen in this short time that republicans are overhauling the ol klown car to fit even more comedic candidates but just as we have so has their base which goes to show us what kind of people are populating the party of stupid. we would not have such rabid bigots running to discriminate against half the country if they were not supported and cheered on whenever something racist or prejudicial parts their lips.
remember 2011 when question was posed about treating an American citizen in a hospital if they had no insurance, the resounding "LET 'EM DIE" and applause from the audience. or supporting that same party who wants to take food out of babies mouths most in that audience was probably the targeted. politicians can only do what their electorate allows them to do, so don't shoot the messenger so much as the ones who support the message.
