On This Week With George StephanopoulosSunday morning, Tavis Smiley said that President Barack Obama and the American government were “dishonoring” Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of nonviolence with their proposed military actions in Syria.
where was the other half of the comedy team West and Smiley with all the other conflicts that happened on the right wing watch, wouldn't they dishonor Dr. King any day of the year or in their heads it only counts on the anniversary.
why was there no mention of the Syrians dying at the hand of a dictator and the humanitarian effort by the Pres. does more to honor Dr King or was their only interest just to jab the Pres.
“At the risk of being the odd man out, let me just add some broader context,” Smiley said. “Just days ago, we were celebrating fifty years since the March on Washington. President Obama stood where Dr. King stood fifty years ago, and we honored Martin with our words in Washington. Now here we are days away from dishonoring him with our deeds in Syria.”Stephanopoulos pressed him on this comparison.“War, Dr. King would say were he here, is not the answer,” Smiley said. “We cannot worship at the altar of retaliation, Dr. King would say were he here. It’s either non-violent coexistence or violent co-annihilation, Dr. King would say were he here. Just like this is connected to Iraq, it’s connected to all of our history.”
first of all how does he know what Dr. King would say he was born in 1964 he can only have read about Dr. King, West in 1953 just a teenager then, how about him and the nutty professor lambasting Pres. at every turn, how about stopping the genocide of Syrians yeah it's clear they are not genuinely concerned about anything but getting in their jabs, tell us what Dr.l King would say about you and your buddy.
