When the GOP jubilantly took control of the Senate last month, it hoped to move past the intra-party squabbles that have hamstrung Republicans on Capitol Hill for the last four years. And yet on the eve of the first major deadline of the 114th Congress, the party finds itself paralyzed by a familiar battle between pragmatists in the Senate and the fiery conservatives of the House.
Funding for the Department of Homeland Security expires on February 27, and Democrats in the Senate are blocking a House-passed spending bill that would overturn the broad executive actions on immigration that President Obama announced late last year. The measure faces a certain presidential veto anyway, and now House and Senate Republicans are locked in an awkward dispute over who should make the next move.
After three failed bids to break a Democratic filibuster, Republicans in the upper chamber want the House to send over another bill, one that either removes the immigration language that Democrats won't support, or which would serve as a stopgap measure to keep the department fully functional while they haggle for another couple months.
republicans the self proclaimed only party that can keep us safe is now feuding over whether or not to keep Homeland Sec. afloat and it's all about keeping the immigrant population out of America it really ought to be obvious now to Hispanics that can legally vote here that they are not that into you. this seems rather extreme and sense and sensibility would dictate make the law work keep America safe.
they fail to realize that if they do this and something catastrophic happens their already eroded self proclaimed defenders of the nation will completely dissolve and any blood and mayhem will be in their laps with no way to blame it on Pres. not that they wouldn't try. i keep hearing them say Pres. doesn't know how to lead guess you could say they have first hand knowledge but it's just another blame him for what they do. pray for this country, because they have been wrong about everything they said and did those still holding on to those who think like G W Bush, "you can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on" they see you as pawns on a chessboard or more accurate the red checkers on the checkerboard, theirs to manipulate
