New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has hit the ground running with his progressive agenda—in between dealing with multiple snowstorms. This week, he announced he will not participate in the annual St. Patrick's  Day parade protest due to the organizers long standing divide over gay rights, New York Times reported.
De Blasio is set to be the first mayor of New York in 20 years not to participate in the parade down Fifth Avenue after the event banned marchers carrying gay pride banners. The last mayor to boycott the event was David N. Dinkins in 1993 for excluding gay participants, according to International Business Times.
if those in power don't start standing up for what America allegedly stands for than it will as now by half the country stand for anything.  if you listen to only one source than you are half cocked anyone reading this has the potential to look over the wall, if the grass looks greener than their politicians are pissing on their lawns, btw a proven with a binder full of facts, they are blaming Pres. for their dastardly deeds but here's another view not so biased.
At a press conference at City Hall, de Blasio confirmed he would not be marching.
"I will be participating in a number of other events to honor the Irish heritage of this city, but I simply disagree with the organizers of that parade,” he said.
De Blasio also boycotted the official parade when he was public advocate.
The LGBT community has praised the mayor for his strong stance against discrimination.  However, liberal activists including public advocate Letitia James urged de Blasio to restrict public workers from marching in the parade while wearing formal city uniforms.
if you need a quick look at the differences of both parties consider this,
the republicans want to ban and boycott the parade for including tax paying Americans, de Basio a Progressive, wants to boycott because it is what America is suppose to stand for "life, liberty, pursuit of happiness and justice for all", look back at republican agenda does it adhere to any of those?
rest assured the right wing ha read this either if they have then they are guilty of violating American rights as guaranteed by the "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE" have you noticed the many times they claim Pres. has broken constitutional rights, none by them, but never have you heard a republican refer to te D of I or the bill of rights which they cherry pick and twist to make their interpretation seem legal, is it?  it doesn't count if only applied to some who usurp it.
