After a morning featuring women sharing their experiences in the workplace, two men offered some tips based on their research.John Neffinger and Matthew Kohut are the authors of “Compelling People: The Hidden Qualities That Makes Us Influential” and discussed some of their workplace findings at a panel with Change the Ratio’s Rachel Sklar on Wednesday for POLITICO's Women Rule Summit.“When women project strength, the ‘b-word’ suddenly descends, suddenly applies,” Neffinger said. “You have to start out presumed warmer, maybe, and less strong and to overcome that, to get you out of that, you have to project strength to be taken seriously. But then you’re in danger. So then you have to also project a lot of warmth to keep that ‘b-word’ away from you. So you have to do as twice as much as a guy does. The research confirms it.”
this should be both men and women, one can't speak for the other effectively the experience might be similar but not the same.
we are to quick out the mouth with our supposed freedoms, can anyone really name one that is not compromised, rape, "she should be able to wear what she wants", true but it can get them raped, our freedoms depend on each of us respecting the others without that you get what we have, imposition on your rights either by the person next to you or our politicians at the bequest of the rich for "FAVORS".
Sklar called the research “depressing,” and said she wanted women “who just want to be really great at the things we’re really great at and not spend that extra mental energy about who we might be offending by being awesome.”The authors saw their research play out in modern politics. Neffinger said that, pre-scandal, people loved watching then-Rep. Rahm Emanuel passionately explode on the House floor on some particular issue. A female pol, he said, could not get away with that.“That does not work as well for women. If you seem out of control of your own behavior, that appears very bad,” said Neffinger. As for crying, Neffinger said, “John Boehner has made a career out of it. It seems fantastic.”
now i question if Beohner was playing us or has one too many X or one less Y chromosomes.
