It was a noble effort by Rep. Rob Andrews, D-NJ, to make sure that atheists were represented in the military chaplaincy. And it was an effort that was met with ridicule and downright stupidity by his Republican colleagues.
On Wednesday, Rep. Andrews introduced the following amendment to the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act:
some say that Atheist and chaplain or oxymoron's, just like republican and intelligence, but it never stopped the evangelicals from spreading their Godless rhetoric. if one chooses not to believe is he still an American or is he kicked out by those who oppose creating bigotry in the church, which Jesus said we were to love all our brothers and sisters if not for those who question we would have a religious tyranny beyond what we have now. and we have seen the results of that especially among the "religious" right.SEC. 502. INCLUSION IN THE CHAPLAIN CORPS OF PERSONS AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE AND COUNSEL TO MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES WHO ARE ATHEIST, AGNOSTIC, OR BELONG TO NO ORGANIZED FAITH GROUP.
btw those chaplains seem to not be doing so well with the rape problem permeating our military so what are they ministering to and who?
the first amendment the right guarantees free speech, you have to have an opinion on whatever in order to speak about it, so those rights should by virtue of the 1st amendment cover whether you believe or not in a higher authority. this is just another example of republican bigotry.
