In Ohio, Obama to announce trade suit against China on autos

President Obama will announce a World Trade Organization suit against China on Thursday during a campaign appearance in Toledo.

The suit will attack duties China imposed earlier this year on U.S. auto imports, according to a report in the Toledo Blade. Obama and the United States argue the duties violate international trade rules. 

The case is part of an effort by Obama to get tough with China on economic issues, a message the president thinks will resonate with voters in Ohio and other Rust Belt states critical to his reelection effort.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has accused Obama of being too soft on China, and has announced that one of his first actions if elected president would be to find that China manipulates its currency to secure a trade advantage.

The five national telephone surveys found Americans as divided as ever on Obamacare. All five registered a nearly even split, with roughly as many respondents saying they approve of the Supreme Court ruling as those saying they disapprove. The only statistically meaningful variation involved the number who say they are unsure of their own opinion.

these reactions show the same partisan division that has long characterized public opinion on the health care law.

The remarks are a complete 180 from those made by two top advisers to the Romney campaign in recent days. Spokesperson Andrea Saul, two days ago, said that the governor "thinks [the mandate] is an unconstitutional penalty," not a tax. Top aide Eric Ferhnstrom, that same day, emphatically declared that the campaign did not believe the mandate was a tax.

"The governor believes that what we put in place in Massachusetts was a penaltyand he disagrees with the court's ruling that the mandate was a tax," Fehrnstrom said in a Monday interview with MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown."

But don’t expect this to actually happen. The governors will eventually accept the money. A few months before a presidential election, with conservative activists watching them closely, it’s easy and perhaps even politically-necessary for these Republicans to talk tough about refusing the Medicaid money. “Obamacare” is deeply unpopular among conservatives, so any Republican governor will face pressure to distance himself from the law in any way possible.

But can they make this move in reality? The Kaiser Family Foundation, as first reported by the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein, estimates that the federal government will send $20 billion dollars to cover the uninsured between 2014 and 2019 to the state of Florida alone. Florida, in that period, would spend only $1 billion. Texas would spend $2 billion and get $52 billion from the federal government for Medicaid coverage.

Why has Romney opened foreign bank accounts, such as a Swiss account with $3 million that appeared on his 2010 returns but not his 2011 returns? How much has kept in offshore accounts in the past? Was he betting against the strength of the US dollar? How might such financial interests affect his policies as president?

But apparently, five of the justices on our Supreme Court didn't have mommas with such ethical sensibilities – or perhaps they're just ignoring their mommas' wisdom now in order to impose their extremist political agenda on you and me.

That agenda became astonishingly clear in 2010 when the black-robed cabal of Alito, Kennedy, Roberts, Scalia, and Thomas hung their infamous Citizens United edict around America's neck. It allowed unlimited sums of corporate cash to spew into our elections, effectively legalizing the wholesale purchase of America's elected officials. In his decision, Supreme joker Anthony Kennedy drew from his deep well of political ignorance and judicial arrogance to declare that these gushers of special interest money "do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption."

even if Roberts change of vote was for a more personal reason like not letting "we the poeple" think that after their citizen's united(of the right wing)decision, and other's the court rulings would not be seen as partisanship efforts favoring the right wing, weren't they? none the less it's a win for "we the people and a goose egg for "them the despicable"

In what counts as a profile in courage these days, a Republican governor has vetoed large parts of a package of measures that would have made it harder for minorities and the poor to vote.

Michigan governor Rick Snyder said he won't sign a bill drawn up by GOP lawmakers which would have required a photo I.D. for first-time registration, or to get an absentee ballot. Snyder said he “appreciates the issue of ensuring voters are eligible and U.S. citizens, however this legislation could create voter confusion among absentee voters.”

this was a sneaky storm in my area, just low thunder rumbling and silent lighting high in the clouds then 11pm Fri. i heard a bomp bomp the sound my phone makes when power is deleted, i looked around all the little vampire lights were out then panic set in AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! no nothing,

i usually keep a full fridge so as to keep monthly cost down leaving more pension for whatever. thank God the food was not spoiled and i'm still on track will buy this moth's food in a week. my daughter and my grandson, he's in town from KSU thinking of changing he's not comfortable there. he has another 10 colleges after him for football scholarship,

GOP Lawmakers Divided On Keeping Obamacare's Young Adult Insurance Provision

According to an analysis by The Huffington Post, dozens of Republicans who want to repeal Obamacare have adult children who are allowed to stay on their parents' health plans thanks to the law, which extended this benefit nationwide. Many of the lawmakers' children are employed and on their own health care plans, but others continue to take advantage of their parents' coverage.

But Walsh and his GOP colleagues are soon going to have to start thinking about which provisions they want to keep if they are going to try to repeal Obamacare. Republicans are almost completely unified in wanting to get rid of the health care law, but they are significantly more divided on what a plan would look like going forward -- and whether they should keep some of the law's most popular provisions.

The reason that health insurers began widely offering such benefits, however, is because Obamacare mandated it. The provision proved to be extremely popular with the American public. Without the law in place, it's unclear how long insurers would continue to offer such coverage, since they would no longer be required to do so

Then, after enrolling thousands of phony voters, these same groups had flooded the courts with lawsuits designed to create bedlam on Election Day and prevent fraudulent votes from being discovered. To back up his story, Hearne submitted a 31-page report, signed by more than a dozen Ohio attorneys.

Hearne represented an organization dedicated to pushing Republican claims of voter fraud not just during post-election court fights, but everywhere and all the time

So two questions lingered after Hearne had finished his dramatic testimony. Who exactly was Thor Hearne? And what was the American Center for Voting Rights, a group no one had heard of before that day? 

It had been a frantic day marked by long lines, improper purging of names from voter lists, and hundreds of voters turned away from the polls. As the problems in the overwhelmingly Democratic city mounted, the Gore campaign went to court to ask that the polls stay open three more hours. A judge granted the request, but Hearne appealed, and in short order, the decision was overturned.

 A few months later, Missouri's Republican secretary of state, Matt Blunt, released a report concluding that St. Louis Democrats had mounted "an organized and successful effort to generate improper votes in large numbers."

It turned out there was nothing to these charges—no evidence ever surfaced of intentional fraud, only of confusion and bad management. But it didn't matter. Hearne, Ashcroft, and Bond were now obsessed with voter fraud, and with Bush in the White House they had the power to do something about it.

can you think of one good reason to deny thousands in your state if you are Gov.? what one you think of people who would allow their Gov. to intentionally deny you and your children affordable healthcare, on the word of already proven dishonest politicians?

third time is not the charm or the issue as far as "we the people's" healthcare is concerned by right wing. the right has lowered the standards of this country systematically, deficit, education, healthcare how long before the third world commercials become our reality due to the indifference of the right to "we the people".

they can't blame this Pres. enough, but they have no backup polan to replace all that they would cut oin the first 24 hrs. according to Romney.

how people here in the US are prepared to kill what they apparently don't understand the true facts of healtcare bill because they have allowed their republican party to flush their minds with the misinformation, lies about what it is and does in favor of nothing, how long they going to deal with the "UNCERTAINTY" of the riht wings lack of the repeal and oh that's right they dropped the replace, wonder why?
