Shutdown looms as House GOP tries again on ObamaCare

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/325541-shutdown-looms-as-gop-adds-new-obamacare-measures-to-bill
House Republicans will try again to unravel President Obama’s healthcare law in a stopgap spending bill Monday night, virtually ensuring Congress will miss a midnight deadline to avert a shutdown of the federal government.
During a closed-door, members-only meeting in the Capitol on Monday, party leaders outlined a plan to lawmakers in which the House would seek to attach a one-year delay of ObamaCare’s individual mandate to a stopgap spending bill. The plan would also strip out subsidies in the law for members of Congress and political appointees, lawmakers said.
thought they had demonized closed door negotiations must be ours not theirs.  they are aware they cannot stop this but their collective insanity keeps them going or is it they owe insurance co.'s for their perks for keeping us in the grips of that milking machine.
doesn't it bother you that something is not right the incessant attempts to deny you health care calling if failed, an abomination when it hasn't been fully implemented and what has gives it good enough marks that other republicans are jumping on  the health train, and red state gov. excepting and putting it in play, and yet congress is still demonizing and misleading you, or is that the reason that it is working after they said it was a train wreck.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) presented the plan at the same time as Democrats in the Senate voted to table the House GOP’s previous amendments to a Senate-passed continuing resolution.
Boehner later spoke with President Obama over the phone, but the call did not appear to make much progress.
“The president called the speaker this evening to discuss funding for the government and Obamacare," Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck said in a statement. "The speaker told the president that Obamacare is costing jobs and that American families are being denied basic fairness when big businesses are getting exemptions that they are not. The call lasted nearly ten minutes.”
so much for their claim Pres. won't talk to them, remember in the beginning he invited them over several times and they dissed him and refused to attend, then when he learns that is futile they cry he doesn't reach out, i have a brain tumor and i remember that, what's their excuse?
note the hypocrisy they are now acting like they are putting "we the people" before big corps you remember the job creators that they are creating this situation because they want to give them what they want read the article by redsfan and note the riders they are trying to put on their latest obstruction and see who they favor most.

21 Things Republicans Have Demanded To Avoid A Crisis

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/09/30/2699221/21-things-republicans-demanded-shutdown-default/

boehner
Since the Republicans took over the House of Representatives in 2011, they have repeatedly attempted to use the prospect of a government shutdown or a debt default as leverage. A shutdown would furlough close to a million federal workers and cut off essential services for millions more Americans, while a default on U.S. debt, even according to Speaker John Boehner, could devastate the global economy.

While the recent debate has focused on Obamacare, that is just the latest in a series of demands made by Republicans. The following is a list of things that have been, at various times, demanded by Republicans under threat of a government shutdown or default:
1. A balanced budget amendment [Link]
2. Approving Keystone XL [Link]
3. Eliminating funding for Planned Parenthood [Link]
4. Medicare privatization [Link]
5. Tax reform, as outlined by Paul Ryan [Link]
6. The REINS Act, which would require Congress to approve significant federal regulations [Link]
7. Means-testing Social Security [Link]
8. Defunding Obamacare [Link]
9. Allowing employers to eliminate insurance coverage for birth control [Link]
10. An expansion of off-shore drilling [Link]
who do you think is serious and who has another agenda or 21 agenda's under their table all the things they could not do they want to ram down our throats and then to add insult to injury they want the Pres. to deliver the death stroke to his premiere legislation,

who are the dumb asses that think that's going to happen, that alone shows this to be more about delivering the Coup De Grace to the Black guy that took them to the political shed twice with gravy stops along the way.  they are delusional and dangerous your future isn't just the date Nov. 4th 2014 it's all after it. recognize

Pete King: House GOP's Delay Obamacare Plan 'Is Going Nowhere'

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/pete-king-latest-house-gop-plan-is-going-nowhere

Article PhotoRep. Pete King (R-NY) told National Review Online that moderate Republicans would revolt against House leadership's latest ploy to derail Obamacare in exchange for funding the government.
King said he had 25 House Republicans who would oppose the latest plan, which would delay Obamacare's individual mandate for a year and eliminate subsidies for Congress members and staff. If that's true and House Democrats united against the plan, it likely wouldn't have the votes to pass.
“This is going nowhere,” he told NRO. "If Obamacare is as bad as we say it’s going to be, then we should pick up a lot of seats in the next election and we should win the presidency in 2016. This idea of going through the side door to take something you lost through the front door -- to me it’s wrong.”
two sides of the same coin like heads and tails not hard to assign a side those who oppose are right wing zealots and after lying their way into ofc. promising jobs that never materialized and have yet to under republican false claims that they are about putting Americans back to work.
part of the riders they are trying to piggy back on their doa law to kill ACA they want to pass Keystone already proved unsafe by massive leaks in Alberta, instead of the Pres. jobs act they've been sitting on since 2011
King acknowledged, though, that the verbal committment of those moderates to oppose the plan wasn't a guarantee that they would actually vote against it when the House votes Monday evening.
“How many of them are going to follow up today with the pressure and everything else, I don’t know,” King said.
Another Moderate Republican, Rep. Charlie Dent (PA), told TPM he intends to vote against a rule that would bring up a new continuing resolution with new anti-Obamacare provisions on Monday evening. He supports passing a "clean" continuing resolution to continue funding the government at current levels.
they are in such a dysfunctional state how can we take anything any of them say they are being coerced and threatened with no more cushy job with perks, it's a toss up until it's time to show your commitment.

O’Reilly to Beck: If Obamacare Implodes, Democrats Will Be ‘Banished For 10 to 15 Years’

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/oreilly-to-glenn-beck-if-obamacare-implodes-democrats-will-be-banished-for-10-to-15-years/

Bill O’Reilly joined Glenn Beck on Monday to promote
his book Killing Jesus and talk about the political drama over Obamacare and a possible government shutdown. O’Reilly lamented how little the American people care about these issues, said that the media would end up spinning a shutdown inPresident Obama‘s favor,
and predicted that if Obamacare is implemented and it turns into a huge disaster, “the Democratic party will be banished for ten to fifteen years.”
O’Reilly told Beck he believes Ted Cruz‘s opposition to Obamacare is sincere, but at the same time he said compromise is essential for anything to get done and neither side can have the “my way or the highway” attitude.
from one extreme to the other, suggesting that media would spin it in Pres.'s favor, they are all to familiar with that ploy but to project their MO on others is disingenuous at it's least.
supporting the Cruz sincerity and bringing in the Progressives as complicit to the republican my way or else, when did that get said, Pres. said he would not negotiate the republicans not doing their jobs
but in admission of his people taking that stance he realizes it's wrong so to lessen the impact he includes the Progressives as that right wing proverbial "the other side dose it too", like that qualifies their doing it or ok's it.
O'Reilly said that about half of Americans simply have "no blanking clue what's going on." Beck asked him what he thinks is going to happen if Obamacare is implemented and turns into a massive disaster.
O'Reilly responded, "Then the Democratic party will be banished for ten to fifteen years," meaning the political fallout will be so great they'll end up in the minority in both the House and Senate, and they won't control the presidency in a long while.
i agree with him wholeheartedly, it's the alf he claims to look out for "the folks", yes they are clueless because they are exclusively listening to him and Beck and the rest of the crew, notorious for misleading and under informing.
G W Bush, "you can fool some of the people all of the time and those are the ones you want to concentrate on" that coupled with the birth of the right wing Fox propaganda machine they can't help but be "influenced".  as to 10 or 15 vyears od obscurity they know all about that they've been there and done that, after doing what they are trying todo again now.

Holder: Restrictive North Carolina voting law ‘an intentional attempt to break a system that was working’

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/09/30/holder-restrictive-north-carolina-voting-law-an-intentional-attempt-to-break-a-system-that-was-working/

Attorney General Eric Holder announced today that the Justice Department will be filing suit against the State of North Carolina for its highly restrictive new voting regulations.
Article PhotoThese regulations have been harshly criticized by many in North Carolina. “It is an outright attempt to manipulate voting and the result of voting through suppressing the African-American and the votes of others that expand the electorate in ways not often favorable to the support of a narrow and extreme political agenda,” said North Carolina NAACP President Rev. William Barber after the law was signed.
they are striving to attain for them the ultimate voting scenario, that which would only allow their base the right to vote, the way they are going if not checked will lead to just that replacing our system of democracy with one we call anarchy
Holder is responding a little late i hope there is enough time to get this repealed and give those disenfranchised there right to vote for who they want not what the can by gerrymandering give you, btw that is not a win they can just stop that lie.
Later that month, former Secretary of State Colin Powell told an audience that included North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory that “there is no voter fraud. How can it be widespread and undetected.” Powell was responding to an editorial in which the governor had claimed that fraud was widespread, but undetected.
they are contradicting their own claiming the same sentence, if it was true and widespread how would they know if by their own claim it's undetectable, they said that so they would not have to show proof but by virtue of saying it they are nullifying their lie,
how much more does the SCOTUS need to recognize they do need to be monitored for suppression, and admit they made a mistake by lifting the measure, like that's gonna happen.

Government shutdown 2013: GOP tries to counter shutdown narrative

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/09/government-shutdown-2013-gop-narrative-97521.html?ml=tb

Article Photo

With time running out before the government closes for the first time since 1996, congressional Republicans are rallying around the same message: A shutdown won’t be our fault.
It was preemptive damage control as the GOP tried to counter the narrative that the House essentially voted early Sunday to close the federal government when they amended a Senate-passed continuing resolution to include several Obamacare-related provisions.
the Pres. has the law on his side the republicans just each other and half are turning to the side no longer lockstep, they are doing what they are now trying to accuse Pres. of they are taking hostages.
whether they remember or not we do we saw this movie and it got a minus 5 stars, trying to sell us on it's the Pres. that's trying to shut down the government when all he is doing is sticking to the duly passed law.
Sen. Ted Cruz said it is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who is being obstructionist for refusing to advance the House legislation.
one question where is the the American Jobs Act? the one the Pres.sent to the purse string holders that would have gotten us out and prosperous, he all know who the obstructionist are they seem to think their secret is safe,
we would not be having this conversation had they not declared war on the Obama WH, and pledged to do nothing to help him which by default does nothing to help you.
what have they done for you in the last 5 years?

Republican Jon Huntsman Onboard With Obamacare (VIDEO)

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/09/29/republican-jon-huntsman-onboard-with-obamacare-video/
Jon Huntsman comes out in support of Obamacare on "Meet the Press."
Back in 2012 Jon Huntsman was likely the only Republican Democrats feared as being able to beat President Obama. The reason is that he is a pragmatic moral Conservative that does care about the working middle class.
During the 2012 election he simply did not fit in with the irresponsible candidates running for the Republican nomination. They were all running for President as if they were in an alternate state of reality. Remember these were the characters whose audience booed a gay soldier defending the country and cheered when Rick Perry was acknowledged as the governor of the state that executes the most. Most importantly were the intrinsic beliefs of Republicans towards those unable to purchase insurance. They cheered when asked if they should be allowed to die.
Today on “Meet The Press” with David Gregory, 2008 Republican Primary Candidate Jon Huntsman came out in favor of letting Obamacare go forward. Moreover he admitted that not only  Democratic presidents but Republicans have been trying at healthcare reform. He even admitted that the individual mandate was a Heritage Foundation/Republican idea. In effect this Republican pulled the rug from under the intransigent obstructionists in his party.
all you have heard as the reason for the unfavorables and failures are born of right wing liars admittingly Progressives have failed miserably in getting ahead of the misinformation, and republicans have played it for all it's worth.
there should be a roll call to see who on the republican side has actually read the bill entirely and how can they claim failure when it can only be in their deceptive little minds, it has not activated enough for that ASS-UMPTION to be made, they know that republicans have been partaking of the proverbial forbidden fruit and are pleased that their family is well protected.

CNN Panel Trashes Boehner: ‘At Least Gingrich Was in Charge of His Caucus’

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/cnn-panel-trashes-boehner-at-least-gingrich-was-in-charge-of-his-caucus/

Article PhotoA CNN panel excoriated House Speaker John Boehner for failing to provide a substantive moderate counterweight to the more hardline influence of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
“If you go back to ’95 and ’96, the last government shutdown—which knocked half a point off the GDP in the United States—at least [Newt] Gingrich was in charge of his caucus,” said former Bill Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta. “Now it appears that Heritage Action and Ted Cruz and the Koch brothers are running the Republican House caucus. It is amazing the weakness that the leadership has shown in not staring these guys down.
right wing voters you are voting for you know not who you are voting for so the lies you have been sold may morph into bigger lies or just not happen at all.
no one seems to know who runs the party, we know the T-Per's exert inordinate pressures through intimidation of primaring, but i maintain if that person has done nothing but bow to T-P overreaching do you really want them back to be paid for nothing again.
before you vote ask yourself what have republicans done for you the last 5 years, if all you required was to sink this country vote for them again.
“It’s amazing how terrified you are of a guy who that ran for the Senate on saying he was going to do actually what he said he was going to do,” Ben Ferguson said. “Ted Cruz did not come to Washington, D.C. to make friends with John McCain and Lindsey Graham or with John Boehner.
“I don’t find Ted Cruz scary,” Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus said. “What I find scary is the notion that he is in charge of the House of Representatives…What is scary isn’t the presence of Cruz. What’s scary is the absence of Boehner, the absence of strong Republican leadership who can call the bluff of this fairly small faction of House Republicans.”
this will not correct itself by 2016 tradition against wet behind the ears juveniles in a perpetual tizzy, and no one wants to lose, update we all lose including them,
stupid is as stupid does".

Gregory Grills Ted Cruz Over Defunding Strategy: ‘You Haven’t Moved Anybody’

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/gregory-grills-ted-cruz-over-defunding-strategy-you-havent-moved-anybody/

Article PhotoArguing that Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) had “lost ground” from his defunding position over the summer, Meet the Press host David Gregoryasked Cruz to demonstrate the success of his strategy to defund ObamaCare via the continuing resolution.
“It is the Democrats who have taken the absolutist position,” Cruz said. “Even now what the House of Representatives has done is a step removed from defunding, it’s delaying. That’s the essence of the compromise. On the other side, what have the Democrats compromised on? Zero.”
please note every time a republican is caught with the headlights in their eyes they try to include Progressives as complicit to the same infraction as they are being busted for at that moment, i've said they do the dirt than try to sweep it on our shoes.
“You make this argument as if there’s no broader context here,” Gregory said, noting the law had been passed through every branch of government, and that Mitt Romney had run in 2012 on a platform to repeal it and lost. “There are not protests in the streets arguing to do away with this law in the way that you’d like. 56% in one poll said let’s uphold the law. I’m focusing on results. Where have you moved anything?”
Cruz responded by saying that even unions were asking out of the law, but Gregory stopped him.
“I asked you a specific question based on the facts on the ground,” Gregory said. “You’ve made all these arguments. My goodness, you went and spoke for twenty-one hours to make these arguments. You haven’t moved anyone.”
he never admitted he was totally ineffective in this effort, instead he says "the American people overwhelmingly rejected ObamaCares", that is republican for his under informed base rejected it, but Pres. was overwhelmingly re-elected while Romney ran on repealing it, do i have to ask who's zoomin' who?
he did not filibuster 21 hrs. he had stand ins it was not his from start to finish, Mr. Cruz, "you did not build that".

Krugman schools Bill Kristol for basing shutdown threat on ‘policy ignorance’

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/09/29/krugman-schools-bill-kristol-for-basing-shutdown-threat-on-policy-ignorance/

Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman on Sunday told Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol that his argument over why President Barack Obama’s health care reform law should be delayed was based on “policy ignorance.”
Article Photo“There have been shutdowns througout the last over last 25 years and, as you know, they don’t always backfire,” Kristol insisted. “It’s a little delicate. But look, why not delay at least parts of Obamacare for a year?”
the republicans are trying to buy time to figure out how they can get around the legality of ObamaCares any back track of the Pres. they would breakout the bats and beat him down,
they try to play off the extension to big corp. of a year to implement to the average family the corp. employ millions at different rates and state of insured i can see taking a minute to get it together a person or family has know for months they know all that they make how many insured so it would not take the same time to implement.
i cannot believe i'm defending corps. actually i'm not i'm defending Pres. extension of their compliance.
“That’s what I’m talking about,” Krugman declared. “This policy ignorance, not understanding that the employer mandate is basically a trivial add-on to the law, while the individual mandate is central to it. You don’t understand that.”
“You can’t really blame people who ran, saying they would do their best to delay this bad law from happening from trying to do that,” Kristol later added. “Democrats ran in ’06 saying they were going get us out of Iraq, and they spent all of 2007, 2008 undercutting our efforts in Iraq.”
do you see what the right winger just did, he tried to qualify his rebuke by Krugman by saying the Progressives ran against Iraq 5 years ago so that makes it ok the republicans are now trying to deny you health care, if you find no logic there don't worry it's not there for anyone to get, totally out of context and obviously and attempted escape from the glaring light of reality.

Wall Street to GOP: Are you nuts?

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/09/wall-street-gop-are-you-nuts-97425.html?ml=tb

Article PhotoSenior Republicans believe they will be on stronger political ground if they allow a relatively clean bill funding the government to reach the president’s desk and instead use the debt-hike battle to gut Obamacare.
That’s a very dubious assumption.
Political analysts and market experts say this strategy could wind up doing lasting damage to both the United States economy and the GOP’s national political standing.
i really hope those who oppose and the fence perchers see that this is not as advertised it's about you being and staying under the thumb of the ins. co.'s and support what supports them.  they don't seem to think elephant dung stinks, but they will find out.

The fundamental flaw: There is no scenario under which the GOP is going to achieve its main stated goal, delaying the Affordable Care Act, through a debt limit showdown. The White House and Senate Democrats would never agree to such a demand.
And senior administration officials say privately that their public refusal to negotiate over the debt limit is not simply a political ploy they will inevitably have to cast aside. Perhaps aware of the risks, House GOP leadership is now considering postponing a vote on a debt limit that includes an Obamacare delay to see what they can get out of a continuing resolution that funds the government
they refer to this as their having leverage against your getting health care doesn't that sound like they want to obstruct you more initiatives that came from the Pres. like jobs act.

now they want to kick the can down the road again because they don't have winning vote numbers so they want to now see what they can extort out of the continuing resolution, it's never about compromise it's about "what dirty trick can we pull to get our way", they are not in that job to serve "we the people" disloyal employees should be terminated.as of Nov.. 4th 2014

Chris Matthews slams Scott Perry's 'cheap shot'

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/09/chris-matthews-scott-perry-97445.html?hp=f3

Article PhotoAn interview between MSNBC’s Chris Matthews and Republican Rep. Scott Perry over the government funding showdown got heated, with Matthews closing the interview after accusing Perry of taking a “cheap shot” and saying he’s “in bed” with the oil industry.
The 10-minute interview, which was rife with interruptions and yelling from both men, may have gotten off on the wrong foot from the get-go.
“The Republican Party is a train right now off its rails,” Matthews said to introduce the segment on his show “Hardball” on Thursday night, before asking Perry (R-Pa.) to name another time that Congress has “held up the government” to kill an enacted law.
this guy Perry was using old school right wing playbook on "what to do when you find out you're the deer with the headlights in your eyes",  first he lied, then he got loud, then tried to over talk then tried to turn unsuccessfully the conversation around and questions Matthews, it was so 2008.
At one point, Matthews said, “No, no, no” after each point Perry was making about what matters to the American people. Matthews shot back with Congress’s “8 percent approval rating right now.”
this did not knock the righty of his course and then my favorite that inane smile and laughter like "they now have you where they want you", but in reality he had not answered the question which they all claim they are.
it's a shame that we pay people to act like that when called to task, the only way to let them know it ain't that kinda party is to take away their favors and that $172,000 check.  we can do that Nov. 4th 2014

Budget: How it ends

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/09/house-republicans-government-shutdown-how-it-ends-97442.html?hp=t2_3

Article PhotoWith only three days left until a possible government shutdown, nobody — not even those in charge — know how the budget battle will end. Or if it will end.
The scenarios are all very messy and each would trigger either an immediate crisis or set the stage for an even more damaging showdown over the debt limit.
House Republicans are in disarray as the leadership discards one strategy after another, unable to unify the conference. The Senate is likely to leave town Friday after sending a funding bill back to the House that Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has already said he can’t accept.
if this cycle has taught us some of us anything it's, who is serious, who is not doing their job , who's ratings are at 8% approval and that is probably family members and are we going to be gullible enough to continue to pay them for this?

The GOP suffers from PTSD when it comes to government shutdowns. It took the political hit for the last one, in 1995-96, and many members worry about history repeating itself.
that should be a no doubt, they keep doing the same stuff over and over and it always ends the same so why would history not repeat itself they set the stage and control the curtain strings they can close it or leave it wide open  and what ever comes or goes is still on their heads.
their base is not large enough for their base to protest and make some noise to influence any kind of right wing skulduggery that they know they would be the ones who'll feel like they fell in a hole with everybody looking down on them.

Tea Party Hero Allen West Fired After Alleged Anti-Semitic Slur

http://www.addictinginfo.org/2013/09/27/allen-west-anti-semitic-slur/

Article Photo
Poor Allen West. The former Republican congressman from Florida just can’t seem to keep a job. According to BuzzFeed, West has left his job at Pajamas Media after an argument with a female staffer, during which he allegedly called her a “Jewish American princess.”
The BuzzFeed story says that West denied that he was fired, but he did not deny that an argument had taken place. When asked specifically if he had called the other employee a “Jewish American princess” West responded “There was an exchange, that’s all.”
West has a history of behavior similar to this alleged incident. In 2003 West, then a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel serving in Iraq, was investigated following accusations that he abused an Iraqi prisoner. CNN reported on the incident on December 13, 2003.
wow a hard to believe in this time that their would be a joyful story sarc/.   i'm sure he like most that adjust themselves to fit in with the extreme, they eventually go to far and forget those the work for still see them as the n....r over their that's crazier them them, and it's off to the curb.
While a congressman, West went on an email tirade against fellow Floridian Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, following remarks she made on the floor of the House that he took far too personally. In the email he said
Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!
wannabe's are more hateful than the usual suspects IMO because they know deep inside the will never be excepted as a equal so they get more and more extreme until it's too much for those they try to impress, would say it's sad but it's not it's self hatred spewed on the rest of us.
